Because generally not as many women find racing something they want to do. I'm sure there are some equality claims, but its also a simple fact, not as many women are drawn to riding/driving like loonies. Yes some women are fooking fast, as said ^^ you only have to do a few track days before you bump into a woman or two who are fast as fook.....but in general, not as many want to do it, so the starting pool is low in numbers and thus.... the numbers who will be great out of that low starting amount are less than men. Not in a % of, just sheer numbers who take it up. The bigger the original pool, the more likely you are to have fast people within it.

Its a shame imho - as there is nothing more sexy than a chica who is fast as fuck... imho.

Pedrosa? Bautista?
Yeah for sure...in fact if you look at the grid in most top end motorsport they all look average size until you see their crew around 'em :D It's a sport which favours midgets. Less so at the very top now TBF 'cause the rules have started considering driver+car weight. Mark Webber used to say it was unfair 'cause he was penalised for being "so big"...he's 6ft and 75kg.

But small blokes are unusual, whereas small women are the norm. Small man is average size woman innit.

In my racing days, the girls got sponsored as they stood out and got publicity for the sponsors.

That's what I'd expect, photos of women are usually more popular whether it's because a company is virtue signalling or they want to get blokes attention.

No one on here heard of Ana Carrasco?
A significant milestone was passed on the road to gender equality yesterday when 21-year-old Ana Carrasco became the first female motorcycle world champion, surviving the final round of the 2018 World 300 Supersport Championship at Magny Cours in France with just three points from her 13th place, enough to give her the title by a one-point margin.
Blundering about trying not to make too much of a hash of things.

I am sure that, on average, women have the capacity to be every bit as good in motorsports as men. The problem is that lads serve "an apprenticeship", ie they are crap at the start and they improve with practice and experience. Girls are not given that slack, they are better from the off or they are told they are crap and advised to take up knitting

There are/were women who can ride/drive a bit, however at the very top echelons of motorsport, where it's all about the money and the margins are so fine, do you want to invest in a driver/ rider who will be (possibly) psychologically unstable for a week a month or announce mid season she's pregnant!
Also, pure strength is a massive factor. Ana Carasco (sp) was a star on the 300, but so far has failed to shine on a 600. Susie Wolff, fucking quick in a car, but by her own admission her neck wouldnt last a full F1 race.

There's no good reason women can't be 'as good as men' in motorsports (certainly driving ones anyway) where there is no physical (dis)advantage. The primary barriers are presumably access and appeal - it's not a particularly diverse field of sports, it's dominated mainly by western whitey geezers.

Arguably, and apparently, youngsters have an advantage in racing because they have an underdeveloped sense of fear and consequences of risk.

I was doing a Haslam track day, following Ron, in my head I was going "you're doing well, you're keeping up with RON FUCKING HASLAM"

Half way round the next bend, Ron looks behind him and points where I should be on the track.... FFS I'm giving it everything and he's not only looking behind, but one fucking hand off pointing at the track.... MEH
