One of the big oil companies, Esso maybe, ran a fleet of Metro pick ups in the 1980's. They were coming to the end of their useful life in 1988/89. I tried buying one at the time.

I like the P100 and Ranger but mainly because they were non 4x4 and easier to load a bike on. P100 suffered in the British climate.

Good call. I've just had a look at some pictures of Escort cars and vans and I think you're right. Customs seized many, many P100 pickups during the days when smuggling booze was in fashion. Dozens and dozens ended their lives like this, long before the tinworm had a chance to get to them.
