I'd like to add square tiles to my list, why can't they make one side at an 89 degree angle to match my wall.
Re: Insignificant/ Significant things that BYP or just wind you up a little
Are there other kitchen suppliers which are happy with walls which are not vertical?
You have to take that into account when cutting tiles and making your grout lines. If it's 89 degrees, you're not doing bad at all, as most builders squares are acute angles. New build houses, anything goes.

Le brico who decide to change their supplier of volants, and me for not opening the box up BEFORE I've pulled the patio doors back out again!
There was much wailing and gnashing of teeth!
But now we do have a motorised security screen!

People who become nurses that really do not have the compassion to be one.
Very not impressed with a couple today. I’m obviously a burden. Even though I’ve only used the call button twice for good reason - first because whilst try to get up to try walking or down after the unsuccessful attempt I stabbed my hand with the IV and the second time because I tried walking again and desperately need pain meds.
At least there is one compassionate one on this shift

Mates cousin built a house back in 2002. Its a foot narrower at the rear than at the front. He ran out of money for the "professional" brickies so the eaves were built by yours truly. I had never picked up a trowel in my life beforehand. How the fuck that place got past building control is beyond me.

It's France. The only time it ever ran with anything approaching efficiency, it was occupied by Germany.Noggin wrote: ↑Thu May 25, 2023 1:03 pm My total lack of understanding of the French benefits system - I've never had to claim unemployment benefit before and don't have anyone up here that can help me understand
Apparently I have been paid for 36 days of holiday
How the fuck do I get 36 days holiday pay when I only worked for 5.5 months? Ok, it's 36 days when the amount they are using is divided up by the amount that I'd get from the state, I think. But I used all my holiday before I finished, so how come that is being counted as a benefit - I essentially had two weeks holiday the last month I worked, so that meant I shouldn't have got any holiday pay benefit because it was paid as actual holiday within my last salary.
So either my employer's accountant has fucked up or the Pôle Emploi has fucked up.
Either way, I get no benefits until 7th July.
The wage slips are so complicated that I haven't worked them out yet. And I can't get to see anyone to discuss this until two weeks time (hopefully be able to drive by then) so am basically pretty screwed
Fucking universe and it's bats again - just as everything seems to be going well and yet another things smacks me on the back of the head

Ooooooo. Harsh. Not sure it’s completely fair. Some stuff has worked really well for me! Part of my issue is no understanding the system at the moment!!!
I’m not so fussed about empathy as such, although maybe that’s why the nurse is instant that I leave asap without understanding the issues!!Bigjawa wrote: ↑

I do think some of the nurses I’ve met in the last almost six years really should have been vetinary nurses or or something other than a medical nurse

That's the opposite to here. I'm not in the system and need to go private, but all my working pals say how good it is.

Not found that - the attitude is generally better now I speak French well.
There was a bit of “english tourist, don’t waste any time she’s going back to the uk” attitude in the hospital last year after knee surgery, probably 95%+ of my experience has been excellent.
The non excellent has be a fuckwit surgeon (good surgeon, rubbish aftercare) and attitudes of some nurses.
TBF, everyone (including me) was expecting me to leave yesterday. Sadly it’s not happened and is likely to be tomorrow - hopefully. So they weren’t expecting an extra patient for the weekend and the morning staff obviously don’t want to be working this weekend But, they have confirmed that if I can’t manage I won’t go home. It’s just frustrating all round for them and me!

Uber drivers
Needed a cab at 10.50pm last night, one located fairly quickly but booking wouldn’t confirm for ages.
Tried again, price up by £2 for same ride, still wouldn’t confirm.
Tried yet again at 11.01pm, instant acknowledgment that car was on his way at £4 over the initial fare quoted at 10.50pm. If I were a betting man, they sit there waiting for the fare to increase before they accept the job. Driver rejected 4 jobs during the short journey we had. I suspect the AI in the system reads that as busy, busy, busy so automatically jacks the fares up.,.

The attitude of some people. I was having a chat with a colleague a few days ago when she said
"I should be getting some money soon. My uncle is really ill"
What a disgusting way to live.

I see the other side of that story. My nephews/nieces think they are getting a lot of my inheritance. Not a chance, it all goes to the budgie sanctuary and the fox tail brushing society (or similar). The reality is that some people just want family to be happy and leaving them something is a way of doing that. People get focused on what material things they are getting, forgetting that what they are losing is so much more precious.

One who forgives an affront fosters friendship, but one who dwells on disputes will alienate a friend.

There is nothing quite like a death in the familly to being out the greed in people. Sad to say but my family is not immune to this

Nor mine. It's because there are people involved.Cousin Jack wrote: ↑Mon May 29, 2023 9:04 am There is nothing quite like a death in the familly to being out the greed in people. Sad to say but my family is not immune to this
At least my children won't have that problem, I'm planning on spending everything before I go

You get to see what people really are when it comes down to money. Make a will, make it utterly clear and keep it updated. Organise power of attorney and do everything you can.
Sometimes life happens and we don't get time to spend it all, then family can be left with a shitstorm.

Booked on the Chunnel tomorrow, the van develops a clonk from the drivers side front on every bump, big or small. Wheel off, everything is tight, wheel on and nothing for the next 50 miles. Driving onto the campsite this evening and it's back. Bollox.
I'm going to risk it tomorrow. If it goes wrong breakdown cover can recover me to Spain.

Breakdown company renewals being complete scams. Upping the premium by £80-90 each year despite no use and then being able to drop it by over £100 just by phoning them up. Obviously the answer is to keep moving but such a crappy business practice.
