Count yourself very lucky it was only at 30. Similar happened to me, but the twat was doing 60, i ended up flat on my back on the road, and the bike (K1200R) was a write off. The impact actually bent the swingarm enough that the driveshaft inside was trapped solid.

The real pisser was that the cops completely shunned any suggestions concerning his driving ability, or lack thereof.

Knowing first hand the sheer size of those swing arms, that's one hell of an impact.

Bike’s been written off. Swing arm is bent along with the rear axle and it needs a new tyre. The rear subframe is bent and the seat is broken. The exhaust is kaput too. They stopped toting up the damage at 8k so I don’t know if the down pipes and engine is damaged or the frame is damaged. So I’ll wait for the insurance settlement and look for another one.

Ah FFS... that's a pile of fucking inconvenience... But TBH i'd rather that than them fix it if it were mine... i don't like things not 100%... so completely gone would be my preference.

I'm in two minds at the moment. On one hand I could go and get another and on the other hand I've not ridden the rsv much yet so I don't know. There's no rush to decide. When I get the money I'll stick it in the bank and ring fence it.

What you said earlier about selling your Gen2 RSV as well and buying a newer 1100 Factory... THAT!!!

The latest 1100 Factory's with Electronic Ohlins suspension are such a step on it's hard to explain just how much better they are in words... Also, the 1000cc V4's are known for valves going out of adjustment waaaaaay before the scheduled service. The 1100's are much better in this regard.

I posted many times about it elsehwere on this forum already...

I only had it a few months, we were planning to move house, I got the opportunity to own it for 4 months before needing to tie the cash up in a house, so did... Did over 2k miles on it in that time, only niggle is that being a EU5 bike they get a bit hot in traffic, but that was it. Absolutely perfect otherwise...

Of course when we went to buy a new house, the interest rates soared, which would have put the mortgage up by about £500 a month, so we didn't bother!

I have just bought a Ducati Streetfighter V2 however, so...

Insurance claim dragging on. The brokers brought in a 3rd party assessors who inspected the bike and declared it beyond economical repair. The other party didn't make a claim so that had to progress but only after the assessors contacted them. They then started dragging their feet so was advised to progress the claim through my underwriters so just started that process. Everyone I've spoken to says that it's a pretty obvious no fault claim but the delays are caused by our not wanting to have any of the costs come off my policy and the 3rd party being an unhelpful prick.

I just want it sorted and am being very patient for me but I absolutely hate loose ends in my life and this stands out like a sore thumb at the minute. Stuff like this has my anxiety peaking, I don't care about the bike but until I get the cash for it I'm feeling a bit sketchy. I know that it'll be fine eventually though.

Haven't ridden since the accident but that's purely because I've been ill with a cold and then wiped out with shingles. Hoping to get back out this weekend to make sure I'm fine on a bike before I ride to the south of france on Thursday.

Finally got a settlement figure and will have the money next week. They're still pursuing the 3rd party but that's just a matter of time. Got enough to replace it if I want (and more than I paid but it was relatively cheap) but I don't think I'll bother. Have a new (to me) Honda coming this weekend and will ride that and the rsv for a bit and see where I want to be then.

I've long fancied one of the 1100 Tuonos,but owner experiences similar to the one below seem depressingly common. Ridiculous on a £18k plus bike.

"My Aprilia Tuono v4 factory 2021 model has had 6 major faults since I bought it new:
The bucket under the camshaft split and it took the workshop 6 weeks to find and repair.
The urgent service warning light has come on intermittently and the workshop couldn't find what was wrong because the ECU doesn't have a memory for that light. Eventually they put a new map in the ECU and replaced the cables for the exhaust valve.
The gearbox was faulty so it had to be replaced which took a month.
The fuel tank sensor is faulty now so it needs to be replaced.
The gearbox is faulty again and really clunky so needs to be replaced".
