V4 Tuono APRC

Post by dern »

Any experience or thoughts on the 2012 tuono v4 aprc? Been offered one and really like the look. I’d be particularly interested in comparisons with the sd 1290 in terms of throttle response and handling.

Cheers ears.

smaller, lighter, flickable.... compared to a 1290. Slightly more cramped in the leg department. Feels very different in truth to a 1290 and more revs and less grunty i guess. I quite like them personally and i'd certainly have one if in that sort of market.

These are the details he sent me...

All the APRC extras such as quick shift. traction control, wheelie control. 3 map settings. Abs front and rear.
Brembo brakes, Sachs fully adjustable suspension.
Has the RSV4 tail conversion. (Original unit included)
GPR race exhaust. Carbon fender. Tail tidy.
Also included is a set of adjustable rear sets.
brand new Michelin pilot 2CT tyres, full service history plus lots of receipts. 2x keys. V5 in my name.

Looks nice...

Buy it - my only experience of them is following one round Cadwell on an FZR400, the bloke riding it was like a mobile chicane in the corners, but it was very fast in a straight line.

You should never do any background reading on any bike you want to buy. I've yet to find any bike that doesn't have its fair share of horror stories.

There's an element of truth to that, however if you want to buy a V4 Aprilia,I recommend you don't go reading.

I've got two KTMs, an Aprilia and I shot a man in Tesco, just to watch him die ;)

You are clearly unbalanced. You need another Aprilia to restore equilibrium.

Get the f'n thing bought...

On one of the Aprilia forums,it caused much merriment when someone asked why Aprilia don't use the V4 engine in an ADV style bike. The size of the required fuel tank may make the styling people uneasy. :silent:

But you can't really have a fire breathing 1000cc beast that makes 190bhp and does 70mpg

The 1290SDR isn't frugal, neither is the Ducati v4... so why anyone would expect the Tuono to be .... i dunno.

I could easily get my R1 into sub 20mpg, if you use the performance you use fuel, especially on an upright bike.

Probably. It's a moot point anyway,as the bike doesn't exist and I doubt if anyone buys a V4 Tuono for the fuel economy.
