Re: Inconsequential ramblings of an Old Git
Tricky's is a fancy one with Ohlins, the cooking spec (Showa) one is cast is what I read.
Could be they just made a beefier (i.e. stiffer) one for the fancy models.

Re: Inconsequential ramblings of an Old Git
No, I'm not. I have no idea whether Tricky's yoke is cast, machined from billet (or machined from cast). I'm saying the base model (non-Factory) Tuonos with Showa forks had cast yokes.Screwdriver wrote: ↑Thu Apr 13, 2023 6:13 pm Hang on, is he saying the Gen1 Tuono yoke, like the one @Tricky posted earlier is cast?

Ha! If funds were unlimited, then maybe. But I'm very happy with the performance of the Showa forks, Brembo calipers and Oz wheels, so I'll just be changing the top yoke. And the risers and bars, obvs.
I mean - you wouldn't want me to go back to this would you?

It was a case of 'I'll just extend what's worked in the past', really. It was only when I came face to face with the actuality of them fitted that the awful realisation dawned. Not one of my better ideas...weeksy wrote: ↑Thu Apr 13, 2023 8:16 pmI don't think anyone wants that !mangocrazy wrote: ↑Thu Apr 13, 2023 7:23 pmHa! If funds were unlimited, then maybe. Still, at least it gave a few people a good laugh...

Crazy talk.

Do you remember that guy who's modifications encouraged the government to introduce TUV stylee modification enforcement in the UK?

Well we all remember Bellwoods crimes against the fashion police
I'll never forget Daven's plywood tacho
Some things just go down in history.
These risers have a place in that list

Mango - you do know that you can get clamps that go round the forks that allow you to use normal handlebars, I've got some 43mm ones from moto-cnc that work fine and if anything are a bit heavy duty for the job.

As we are still ribbing mango, can we just spare a minute to remember Supermotospike, whose engineering ambition severely outweighed his ability.

Re: Inconsequential ramblings of an Old Git
I don't believe I ever did! I had my blinkers on at an early stage and could only see that way of getting the bar rise I wanted. It really was tunnel vision. And I knew it looked gash, but couldn't admit it to myself. But the forum provided me with a robust therapy session and some tough love and showed me the error of my ways.

Re: Inconsequential ramblings of an Old Git
Nope. I have a Falco that can do that...
Unless of course you're referring to a V4 Tuono. I do not rule out buying one of them.

Re: Inconsequential ramblings of an Old Git
Yes, I am aware of those. I guess I view them as a Plan C, but hopefully Plan B (Mt-09 risers mated to modded RSV top yoke) will work out.Le_Fromage_Grande wrote: ↑Thu Apr 13, 2023 9:34 pm Mango - you do know that you can get clamps that go round the forks that allow you to use normal handlebars, I've got some 43mm ones from moto-cnc that work fine and if anything are a bit heavy duty for the job.
