New bike time
I now have a moto guzzi v7 special 850.
Very pleased with iit.I road home yesterday and it felt like I had owned it for ages. Should have got one sooner.
Waiting for a Dart screen and fender extender.

I think they say 'derived from' the V85TT...so pretty much.
I do, very much, like an 'across the frame' V-twin shafty.

That was gonna be my question! I really like the V7 but ~50bhp appeals less. Dunno why MG can't put the full fat V85TT engine in there.
Lovely bike though chap, I even like the brown seat!

They're known as small block engines amongst the guzzi community.
My v7 850 produces approximately 66 bhp which with almost max torque at 3500 rpm, does more than a decent job of shifting you around. Not going to pull your arms off, but that's not what it's about. Zero to 60 in 5 or so seconds. That'll do for me. Sounds great too.
Dealer backup is much improved with Piaggio group behind it (Piaggio, Vespa, Aprilia and MG) I've got a pretty good choice of dealers within a reasonable distance. That said, these bikes are ideal for doing your own spannering. Just without tons of technology to fight with. I've already done more fettling and exploring with this bike than I can remember.

Few years back I bought a V7 II Special.
It looked lovely, but I couldn't get it to handle right. Even with Hagon's best custom made shocks on the rear. For the III they moved the upper shock mounts so they weren't laid over as much, I assume it was to help with handling. I've not ridden a III so can't say if it's any better.
I sold it to buy a 92 GSXR1100.
