I think the S model was a bit more refined, different carb, headlight and gear ratios but on road tyres like the old Avon gripsters the S handled well.

I’d still get a bit of a weave on above 70 on the Mway with that high front mudguard though.

The difference between the S and the E are forks, shock, carb, gearing, compression ratio, inlet cam, plastic tank, noisy exhaust, instruments and road legal stuff, so not huge differences, but they do add up to making the E a better bike off road, my S was fine as an everyday bike

Last time I rode one (enduro spec) I took it around the Nurburgring. Among all the other bikes we were playing with, it was the most fun.

Everything would zip past on the straight as if you were being shot at by bows and arrows. But never mind ABS, you could outbrake anything while they're busy wiggling bums and desperately trying to "look cool". I'd be on the outside, tyres squirming looking for a decent berm to catapult around the corner like WileE. Coyote on a string.

It was a real hoot. Dunno why I never got myself one tbh.

Sat on a crf300 rally yesterday and the suspension was so soft I thought it was never going to stop compressing. Felt like a very small bike compared to the drz.

Anyway, fitted the new renthal bars today and happy with them. They give about an extra inch an a bit rise. Haven’t ridden it anywhere yet as fitting them was a palaver.

Couldn’t get the threaded inserts out of the old bars so decided not to break them so have to get some new threaded inserts out but some new hand guards.

Couldn’t remove the Oxford heated grips in one piece so took them off in many pieces and threw them in the bin. Had to take the tank off to remove the wiring and a fuel line broke so replaced that too.

Relocated the ignition to a more accessible place that won’t get smashed when I crash. Still couldn’t fit the crash pad to the bars though as it obscured the speedo. Still can’t see it brilliantly but well enough.
