Re: What have you done today thread?
So here we are, about 5 weeks since the Jan 3rd visit with the ortho...
Called their office today to ask when I might expect surgery.
Fucker tells me "well he's not going to the hospital these days so we need to see about scheduling you with another surgeon...."
WT actual F???
I ask to see the guy who did my TKR & get told they have to put in a fresh approval for an office visit with him & after that, another fucking approval for the surgery...
It's going to be a goddamn YEAR between separating the fracture & getting the surgery at this rate.

Curiouser and curiouser...Taipan wrote: ↑Tue Feb 07, 2023 1:31 pmYup. Just read pretty much all of that on twitter and the £100k gofund me page, which was halved and then taken down! There is certainly more going on than we're led to believe about the idyllic family living in an idyll! Lets hope those kiddies still have a mother anyway...Potter wrote: ↑Tue Feb 07, 2023 1:24 pmPurely anecdotal in the newspaper shop gossip - but 'appen searches of their financial affairs have revealed financial woes and a business going into liquidation on the day she went missing, apparently the bloke had an affair, things hadn't been going well for a while, etc.
There are even rumours of a stranger being in the village and an abandoned haunted house nearby suddenly having a strange occupant who is uncooperative with enquiries - village gossip is mental.
I'm not much into ghoul type watching so I haven't bothered to stalk them on the internet to find out, but it's possible that none of it is true, or all of it is true - and even if it is all true it might have nothing to do with her disappearance.
It's unusual though and it likely to be a complicated story.
The search for Nicola Bulley has been extended after a specialist diving team said it had completed its work.
Peter Faulding, from Specialist Group International, said his team were pulling out as the mother-of-two was "categorically not" in the area of river where police believe she fell in.
Ms Bulley, 45, was last seen walking her dog by the river in St Michael's on Wyre in Lancashire 12 days ago.
The search has now been extended as far as Knott End and Morecambe Bay.
Mr Faulding, who was called in by the family to help with the search, said: "We've done very thorough searches all the way down to the weir. Police divers have dived it three times, extremely thoroughly.
"That area is completely negative - there is no sign of Nicola in that area. The main focus will be the police investigation down the river, which leads out to the estuary."

Re: What have you done today thread?
Just got a permanent ban from Twitter
I’m assuming it just an algorithm thing because I hardly ever post and my posts aren’t that bad.
Well that’s what I tell myself anyway.
Anyway I’ve appealed.

I left a few weeks ago, gone to Mastodon. Having the whole thing being run by a petulant child wasn't working out for me.

I've never seen the point of it. Got loads of stuff forwarded to me. Nada.
Seems like a kiddy program.
Not seen anything about it that I like.

Did a 3 hour enduro ride with a pal who's a beginner.
Nice way to build up my confidence after my big crash .
First ride in 3 weeks.

Painting the hallway, yesterday dog got down and decided to stipple the wall, so used a stairgate to prevent a reoccurrence..

Re: What have you done today thread?
Did a bit more half-arsed faffery on the ST & got the part of the fender flair that holds the sensor doodad attached so it doesn't wave around like a whores drawers.
While I was at it I loosened the fender liner somewhat to get a look behind the bumper cover. No surprises there, altho there was a small piece of the bumper cover that had snapped off laying in the bottom.

Re: What have you done today thread?
Borrowed a vehicle from work cos I had an appointment with the knee surgeon in Grenoble. Got there far too early but went in anyway and he was available, so I got to see him an hour early
Upshot is -
26th May - Surgery to take out the metal on my knee/tibia (later than I'd wanted, but I'm now hoping my boss will keep me on for the extra couple of weeks, then I'll have worked for a full 6 months - good for unemployment benefit!! LOL)
2 May - go see the anaesthetist to discuss whether I can have a general anaesthetic and no a local!!
15 days after the op to wait in resort until the nurse takes the stitches out, then I can go to the uk for a visit for a couple of weeks
Interestingly, the op is described as 'ambulatoire' - go in in the morning, have the op and go home that afternoon/evening. I told him that I'd like to stay one night minimum for two reasons,
1 - I want a GA, so think it's sensible
2 - there's no one in resort in May, so I don't think it's a good idea!!
He said that legally, if I live alone, then he can't send me home the first night! Perfect!!!
The other issue for me is that I can't use crutches. I can use a stick/crutch on the left side (wrong side for the bad leg, but only side I can use it!) so if for any reason I need crutches, I can't come home because that means I need a wheelchair - building is on a slope and has stairs!! He says I won't need crutches, but also has given me a prescription for a set So, better to stay until I'm sure I'm (relatively) safe to come home
I then stopped at the local Yamaha dealer on the way home and got all excited because there was a bike outside that had the same colour wheels as the MT10's I've seen online. Sadly it wasn't a 10 He doesn't have a ten But he did call a dealer in Chambery and they do have one!! Now to get a lift to Chambery in the next couple of weeks to go have a go on it to see if I can reach the bars

Re: What have you done today thread?
I witnessed some absolute genius yesterday...
Guy is trying to remove a shower valve by tightening it with ChannelLocks.
His *helper* (who was more of a supervisor) tells him "Turn it the other way"
.. So the guy changes the grip he has on the valve from the jaws facing left, to the jaws facing right... & then carries on trying to tighten it...
I had to walk away

Re: What have you done today thread?
Where do I begin......
After the trip to Wales the other day, the V50 was making noises, eventually I worked out the o/s/f pads were down to the metal........(I was only a muck nacknic for 30 years...).
So, this morning I fetch pads (two sets...just in case as there is some doubt about the fitting....we all know it will be the expensive set)SHMBO'd mentions that we are going to Exeter (60 miles +) to collect a bidet....{pads were down to the metal.......(!). Collected, expensive snack acquired at garden centre.....get home, remove vanity/sink that will get collected at 5.30, then decide I will start on the pads.
Jack the car up with my admittedly old jack, loosen wheel....watch as car gracefully falls off jack, which, i toppling, manages to puncture the sump.
Oh, Flupp.
The car is '05, 200,000 miles (not alot for one of these) and due a mot next month.
It looks solid underneath, but....
So:- the options are:-
a. Kill myself.
b. Fill hole with plastic metal or chewing gum.
c. Go to pub.
d. Buy another X Type.
e. Change sump.
I will not be offended if you take the piss. I feel it might help.
