Picked it up this morning...
Needs a really good clean to have a proper look but bad points...
- Dash plastic is slightly scratched but looks like it'll polish out
- Paint on tank has bubbled so I'll drain it and let it dry and see where we are. It's a plastic tank so not unexpected, may need paint
- Pillion seat has some wear on corners so will need recovering or replacing with a plastic cover
- Needs an mot, booked in on Thursday

- All the mechanicals are extremely clean for its age
- Started easily and sounds awesome
- Receipt for linkage plates
- Receipt for ohlins service/rebuild front and back this year costing about £550
- Side stand already replaced with fireblade stand
- Suspension bearings done
- Akra titanium system second hand fitted at about £650
- New reg/stator
- New camchain tensioners
- Tune up @ £500 whatever that entailed
- Brakes rebuilt
Overall pretty good and some bits to sort out but very happy.
I paid £3500 for this bike which is pretty good I think.

That's a brilliant deal - but you already know that. All the important stuff has been done and most of the 'nice to haves' as well. The only potential worry is the bubbling tank. I know that a few Falcos (which use a tank of the same material) have had issued with bubbling which turned out to be terminal ethanol damage. Hopefully yours has been caught in time. If it were my bike the only fuel I'd put in would be Esso Super Unleaded - in most parts of the country it's E0 (pure dino-juice) even though it's marked on the pump as E5.

That looks lovely Mark, always wanted one so let me know if you decide to move it on!
My only concern with them was possible noise issues for track use, so would be interested to to know what it db’s it puts out if you ever get a chance to test it.
My iPhone noise app is spot on with no limits testing.

Akra's aren't as loud as you think, I had Tigcraft's on mine and they blew 105dB without baffles.

It’s meaty but not massively loud. I won’t be taking it on track though, as long as I get on with it it’ll be my road bike to replace the superduke.
Had a quick run on a private track and love it. It is pissing it down and there are leaves everywhere but it feels like a great riding position given I didn’t get it over 30.

Sometimes I think about a cheeky second bike for a project and then realise that I've never done any work on motorbikes and it would probably end up gathering dust in the corner of the garage.

I still need to sort the track R6 in the garage. I'm just bloody useless at spanners. Happy to crack on with it but would rather have a responsible adult with me to guide me or someone equally as clueless as me to bounce ideas off as I follow the Haynes manual. TBF I can't make the bike worse! and it only needs re-assembly.

The one that needs the decisions and work is the zxr750... I just need to make up my mind which way to go and get on with it.

Had the wind put up me a bit yesterday when I thought I'd found that the swing arm recall I'd only just found out about hadn't been done. Pulled the bike out to load it up in the van for its mot and double checked while I had more space and it has the new design on it so, like, phew.
Put a new battery in it that's a bigger capacity job and it just fits with some encouragement so when I have more time I'll do a better job of wedging it in with the seat.
Found that the tacho cover that I though was scratched is actually cracked and can't be replaced. Quite annoying but not the end of the world. Wondering whether some super glue would be it look the cracks invisible or very very visible... not sure.
Going to have to wait until December to insure it. With no NCB it's quite a lot to insure but I have 18 years on my DRZ (fuck knows why it's on that one, timing I guess) so when that expires I'll use that NCB against the Aprilia and the DRZ will cost me about a tenner more to insure with no NCB and most of the cost is made up of arrangement fees and the rest of the shit actually on top of the cost of the policy.
