But when in the loft-of-plenty searching, the loft-of-plenty delivered me this alternative, which did the job! No idea where it came from but I have learnt not to question these mysteries, just enjoy the benefits of the loft-of-plenty! :D

Image
I do wish I had a loft-of-plenty-like-Taipan!!! I just have various boxes of crap stashed in various places. I'm finally going through them to reduce the numbers and get to a point that I only need to store stuff in my place (under the bed, although that is 4ft up in the air so a bit of space!) and the tool box and bike related bits in my friends garage!!

I do now have a shared winter garage and a shared summer garage - need to be careful not to take too much space in both of those!!

Weirdly, since coming back from the latest rehab, I've been a LOT more ruthless with 'stuff'. Loads of clothes that I'll never wear, for various reasons, have gone (well, in bags to the garage, will take to a charity shop soon) and kitchen stuff too. Need to get rid of a box of cables - how many cables does one person need??!!

Today I'm taking stuff to a mate in the valley - lots of big tins of chickpeas to start! I get given lots of stuff at the end of each season and always think I'll use the stuff. But I haven't. So it's time to clear down!! Chickpeas & coucous for today (how much coucous can a person eat for gods sake! I still have a litre kilner jar full and another box ). I suspect I'll be getting rid of more random stuff in the next day or so as I REALLY want to get rid of a shelf unit!!

I did jokingly say that instead of giving her some dijon mustard, I should ebay it (serious shortage of mustard here!!) - she thought I was serious!   (I have kept the grainy stuff cos that's nice in some of the stuff I cook, and I have an open jar of dijon in the fridge!!)

At least I'll get some hummus and pasties in return for free stuff!! :bblonde: :bblonde: (I just never get round to making hummus, so might as well get rid of the HUGE tins!!!)

Couscous? Loads. :D Add fennel, caraway and cumin seeds, teaspoon of bouillon and sliced peel of a preserved lemon...serve with something ooh, say...North Africanish...which will have chickpeas in. Sorted.

I'm in the process of clearing a loft of plenty. Because it's over the garage stuff just gets bunged up there and forgotten so it's getting cleared and the loft accessible from the house getting added insulation and some more boarding and will then only store stuff that needs to be accessible seasonally up there. Main dithering is over the Scalextric and train set. Could turn the garage loft into a man-child cave and set them up permanently in there. Could be the clincher when the house gets sold one day. :D

Everything sounds great till you mention chickpeas!! LOL I only eat those when mooshed into hummus, but, as proven by having the tins for years, I never quite get around to making hummus!!

Still have loads of couscous and all the other ingredients :D

Oh and - Scalextric - mmmmmmmmm

Whilst she was rummaging through catering sized packs of toilet rolls and washing power, I wandered into a perfume section and found a proper old school bottle of Brut complete with the silver medallion on the front.

I now smell like my Grandad circa 1974
When bored in the supermarche I like to take a good look at all the crappy no- name perfumes and after-shaves they sell around Christmas time.

Working out that the Monster does about 45 miles to the gallon (10 miles to the litre) - am well chuffed. When I'm mostly in the valley or on main routes/mways, it's a bit more (not a lot, just a smidge) but that's reasonable given that when ever I go anywhere I have to come back up to 2000m around a loads of hairpins!!

Kinda cool!!

Was up Aviemore for Thunder in the Glens at the weekend and got 22.5 MPG. Gutted them i remembered i was to fix my tank sender unit. Was putting it off as dropping the tank was filling me with dread. Thinking about it on the way home i hit me. I have a wooden floor so drill a bloody hole in it

Before and after if how my sender unit was fitted by some idiot

Dropping a half full chassis mounted tank is a royal pain. Stripping old bolts, detaching old fuel lined then bleeding the system later, lifting the tank. The floor is wood. When i am happy its 100% sealed i can make the hole a few inches wider what sits over one of the chassis rail lips and over two out riggers. Once done replace wood and seal up with Sikflex or the likes.

I just fixed my computer :banana-dance: :banana-dance: :banana-dance: :banana-dance: :banana-dance:

Charger port and charger were both toast due to a bad connection. Parts were €40 but the fitting of the charger port was really worrying me even having watched the youtube video 3 times !!!

It was a tad tricky, I'm getting old and on a couple of occasions I had to photograph something and zoom in to be able to see it properly ! However I got it back together and it all works :)

I put a chest freezer on the local free FB page.
After weeding out the dross I chose a lad with young family.
He turned up in a proper shitty van, but he was HUGE.
He just picked up the fridge and put it on his shoulder and carried it like a toy :obscene-birdiedoublered:

Baby D's new passport photo. Cute little fair haired 4 year old girl with braided pig tails, she's basically a Disney princess.

Looks bloody terrible in the photo

It's nice to know some things are universal :D

Aaaah.....not a bike then....a camper or such.
Yes....cutting holes in the floor of a vehicle is a very good idea.

Decided to keep the hole and make a sealed hatch. Going to refit the camperbus so this will be in the loo. How handy

My uncle gave a eulogy for my Mum at her funeral a week ago today and I learned a few things about her that I'm sure would be appreciated here.

Neither of my parents had motorbikes in my memory, but they both did before they started a family.

My Mum did a ton on the A40, pillion, from the Ace Cafe with no crash helmet.
She bought herself the fastest scooter available, a 190cc. I can't remember what my uncle said it was called, a Go-something. She enjoyed beating people away from the lights   She overcooked it on one occasion and crashed through the doors of Woolworths just after they had gone self-service. Her friend worked there, looked down at her and said "I've heard of self-service, but this is taking the p***". She was also determined to ride it from London to Cornwall for a holiday despite my uncle having room in his car. They met at some services and he said that she was soaking wet but she wasn't deterred and she beat them to the destination.

He also said that she had the best cricket throw in the school and could throw a cricket ball further than all the boys.

Here's to my Mum and her spirit of fun and adventure :obscene-drinkingcheers:

My uncle, 84 years old, lost his wife five years ago. As his wife had done a great job looking after him and they were very close, we were worried for him losing her. There was no need - he restarted his life as a teenager. He joined a Latin American dancing club and pictures started appearing on FB of him having a great time with women half his age and he took up photography. He was at Brands early this week taking snaps - here's one.
