If you want the right money for it then these things don't always always sell quickly because there is a small audience for second-hand supercars bought off driveways without a warranty - so you'd need to sell it cheap

I imagine its no accident that alot of the cars in these draws are modified etc.

That's one way of looking at it.

My view is that if you are in possession of something that you believe is worth £120k and you go through a process where you end up battered down to £80k, then you're probably not going to feel great about it.

I don't think money is that important anymore, so I'd rather not go through such an experience, my peace is worth more than £80k, so I'd rather not enter and win something I don't want and then have to fuck about with people that vex me.

When I look at the prizes I ignore the inflated headline value and assume it's only worth what they are offering as a cash equivalent. Many prizes are obviously there because they are almost unsellable at a decent price.

I just don't want it bad enough to chase it.

I've actually done alright out of the sale of some fairly expensive things in the last year or so, but it was a bit stressful when you're selling things of that value, so it's put me off doing it. If I was in that position I'd probably do what Weeksy said and ring round a few high end garages and ask for on the spot quotes and then take the best offer and consider whatever I got as a bonus, but I bet the delta between the amount you think it's worth and the amount they offer would be massive.
I definitely wouldn't want to go through the hassle of any advertised sale process.

I probably used the term wrongly, I mean garages that will give you £50k for a £100k car, rather than a corner lot on an industrial estate that sells second hand Clios and wouldn't even touch it. The value of a lot of these cars (Ferraris in particular) are very dependant on provenance, some of these Ferrari nerds won't buy one unless they can trace every owner and oil filter that has been fitted.

Selling one of these things off your driveway would be a nightmare.

You only have to glance at the numbers to see that the flash cars are sorta bottom tier. For example Revcomps currently have a 911 Turbo S which would fetch £65k from WBAC (i checked out of curiosity). Theyre after 10,000 tickets at about a tenner each, so £100k. I don't know their figures but they've gotta be looking at a margins in the 10s of percent to be making a decent business out of it, so I assume they bought the car for the same/less as WBAC would pay.

I suppose what I'm saying is that the "£100k dream cars" they have er....aren't.

I wouldn't turn a free one down, but I also don't think its worth a tenner of my money a 10,000:1 odds.

I doubt they even buy the cars up front, they will find one that couldn't sell, buy an option at a low price and if the winner selects the cash equivalent they rip up the option.
Otherwise they run they risk of being lumbered with unsellable cars, plus they would need all the money before tickets are sold.

If you're unfortunate enough to ever actually acquire your dream car, you'll might find that ownership isn't quite the dream that you thought it would be. All the proper rich people I know drive around in fairly run-of-the-mill cars, the supercars are for carpet warehouse owners in Dewsbury (c. Jeremy Clarkson).

Although there is a lady in my street that has a 488 as her daily driver. If I'm working normal office hours then I often see her leaving or coming home at the same time as me, and I've often sat behind or next to her at the traffic lights admiring the car and it does look lovely.

That's the Audi that I mentioned in another thread, I didn't know what it was but it's one of those, although the one I saw must have been a more sporty edition because it looked a bit more sporty/bling. It looked very nice in the flesh.
