Swiss Racing Ban

I had no idea that racing has been banned in Switzerland for the last 67 years.

But the ban is being lifted!

I guess there isn't any circuits if it's not been allowed?

No they don't, they pay tax in the country they're paid in, same as anyone else.

Mr Schumacher negotiated with his local council about how much tax he would pay - and they accepted the offer. It's a Swiss thing. ( It was something along the line that he would pay the whole community's tax for X years if he only paid Y....) And he also used to play in the village/town's football team.

I am not sure where the Swiss removal of this ban goes - I can't see anywhere for a racetrack. But they could do the most stupendous hill-climbs ...
Hard to see a street circuit in Bern, Basel, Zurich or Geneva

It simply says that in UK and USA all foreign sports stars and entertainers have tax deducted on earnings in that country.
Same all over the world.

I'd be amazed if mega rich sports stars didn't have all their contracts worded so they earn nothing for performing and earn everything for the one day a year they turn up at the office in some low tax country. Something along those lines anyway, so they're not actually earning any money on paper in these high tax countries.

Maybe not though - but then again, why do so many of them live in tax havens?
