Can't see anything being that early here.... Been plenty of good days in the early spring, but we're a little more selective on when to do them and try to mitigate the rain and cold.

Booked: The Bull Hotel. Thought's of solo camping in a cold, dark, damp tent with possible short supply of booze was starting to frighten me 😲, so hotel with comfy bed with shower accompanied with bar serving food is booked. 15 mins from circuit and a petrol station next door.

Still vacancies if anyone interested. Saturday April 16, that's Easter Saturday. No limits. 👍

If you dont mind me asking as you have done a few trackdays already with some at the circuits listed above for this year why are you booking in Novice instead of Inters ??

I always thought the TDO's aim Novice as "no experience of trackdays or only done 1 or 2 before" so is it a learning more thing or a comfort level, or something else?

I don't mind at all.

At Bedford I'm pretty much ok and at the fast end of the novice group but I'm not the quickest. On an average day I'm top third maybe. I accidentally did an half an inters session at Bedford (I thought novices was starting but inters was restarting) and it was ok, I got overtaken once but didn't really see anyone else which is a good sign I guess. I did a session with a tutor and they recommended I stuck with novices for now as my lines were more inconsistent that would be expected in inters even though my speed was ok. I was thinking about moving up to inters but that put me off a little. Their aim of no experience or only 1/2 days doesn't seem to hold in my experience. They may be one or two going relatively slow but there are always plenty going a lot faster.

Pembrey I'm pretty much the same as Bedford as I know it relatively well but am never anywhere near the fastest. Cadwell I've only done once there were people *way* faster than me and that really put the shits up me but I want to try it again. Never been to Donnington before.

I'm definitely not a natural at this so it's definitely a comfort thing. I'm not interested in counting overtakes so if I'm following someone that I'm quicker then I'm perfectly happy following them until I can do a clean overtake without spooking them.

I'd like to be in inters but at the moment I'm comfortable in novices, not putting the wind up anyone I hope and having a fun time.

Thanks for the honest reply ....... i have done 2 track days, both at Pembrey on a non track bike and at no point was i anywhere near the fastest and maybe managed to be in the top half in the group on the 2nd time i was there but felt i would learn more in Inters for my next visit..........plus almost everyone else i would be there with was in Inters so might as well see where i was at with them despite being on a big ADV bike with sport/touring tyres.

If i had a track bike with sticky rubber i could bring in a van i might push my limit a bit more but i ride to the track across the country, carry all my shit with me, camp, track it then ride home again so i probably leave a larger margin for error but i'll have a go at Inters this time and see how it goes

Nice, I'm sure it'll go well. Being in the same group as your mates will be cool and you'll get plenty of pointers.

I just reread that and wouldn't want that to put off anyone who wanted to try track days out. Although other people may be faster the vast majority are extremely courteous and the track day organisers will keep an eye out for anyone riding inappropriately in novices. The only bad experience I had was at Cadwell and the organiser said that, in their experience, they tended to get more people booking in the wrong groups at weekends so that's something to bear in mind.

So, if you're like I was, that is very nervous about doing a track day then do it anyway. You'll probably absolutely love it. If you don't you'll still have a good day and you'll definitely be in a safer environment for the day than you would be if you were on the road.

This is where you need to work. Folk think racing lines are magical things.
I can go to a new circuit and see the lines withing 5 laps.
You just need to learn the generic theory.

Maybe 20 years ago, on a No Limits Trackday there's little difference in speed between Novice and Inters, Novice is a bit more relaxed and there are less egos

Cheap Donny day if anyone is interested, £99 at the moment, will either sell out or go up in price.

Yes, I'm in novice, what group are you in?

I'll arrive in the morning and tend to park up on the helipad if it's open...
