That's interesting. I've thought for a while that Marvel films are dull and now I know why.

DUNE

EPIC

Bloody brilliant, brilliantly done, some of the bits of the book missed and Mrs M was grateful of some info but I bloody loved it, roll on part 2.

'2012' - It's the end of the world as we know it (and I feel fine). The typical Wallyhood plot lines are, as the French would say, 'bolleaux', peeps surviving stuff where they'd be total toast and the worst Russian accent since Clarkson's little filming episode...but the special effects are  - worth watching for them alone.

The Expanse
Series 6 has just started on amazon, if you haven’t seen it then I do recommend starting from the very beginning of series 1 as it develops in a way that is fairly unexpected.

A sort of game of thrones in space vibe to it.

The whole of series 1 is more like a detective story and very much a wtf is going on, it does start developing its main stories in due course but one of the things I like about it is that the story threads take a while to unfold.
The space battles are really well done, probably more based in real physics than anything else I remember watching

Road House
It's a bloody classic / 10 , but I'm biased as I do like Sam Elliott

The Suicide Squad
Brain out and enjoy the bloodfest / 10, silly sillyness with gun play aplenty, I really hope Idris Elba get's to play Bond before his time is up.

Just watched Blade Runner 2049 again. So pleased they didn't make a complete pig's ear of it. It has a few hmmm bits with plot and casting but overall not a bad job. Look forward to seeing what the director has done with Dune,

Season finale was yesterday. There's still quite a lot more book story left, but the TV series finished in quite a satisfactory place I think.

Any other nerds smile and the crew manifest on the screen though? :D

I'd not want to watch it before reading the books, that's where the detail lives.

Don't look up on Netflix. Leo, Jen Lawrence, Streep, Rylance all put in a good turn. I quite liked it.

Fanflippin' tastic / 10, an F'in' masterpiece of blood, bullets and Nina Simone.
It's been many a year since a film this good was released.

Cop Shop https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5748448/
Brilliantly terrible / 10, about 30 minutes too long but an decent low rent telling of the usual story.

Reacher on Amazon Prime

A lot better than I thought it was going to be.

It's not a bad version (seen 4 episodes so far) but they do seem to mumble/gabble through some key dialogue and, probably as a result, the plot seems to jump about a bit.

eg when they go to the dead truck driver's home and look at the air con boxes. It's only because I know what's going on that I know what's going on IYSWIM.

8 episodes works well in some ways but the pacing isn't very even.

I like the police captain character.

7/10 so far.

Got around to watching Joker on Amazon.

Fuck me it's a bloody dark film, but you have to give it Joaquin Phoenix, he's superb in it.

6 Days, a dramatisation of the Iranian embassy siege. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt4703048/

It's not particularly memorable, but killed an hour and a half.
