I'm on the case, I'm trying to round up the same motley bunch of carrot crunchers as last year, plus a couple of others.

@Tricky Can’t see any Lydden dates up yet but we’re both keen to get back down there when the weather starts improving.
Will give you a shout before we book anything and hopefully get to meet up again👍

I haven't ridden my bikes for over a year I reckon. I'd be next to useless on track now, not that I was any good in the first place. Will decide on the trackday if I ever get back in the saddle this year. Would be great to see some old faces.

If being good were a pre-requisite, only me and Tricky would be there.

I've got one more who would like to come mate, but he's a bit concerned that his Triumph Daytona 675 (with aftermarket "not for road use" pipe) will fail the noise test. He's going to go to Castle Combe & get it tested by their noise Nazis & see what they say. Is it possible to put him down in the novice group anyway? I'm sure we can come up with a solution. If so name is Jonathan M.

Also has Phil got bikes to rent this year? If so Midge wants to rent one, he believes the cost is £150?

I can say one part of the answer for sure, a hire bike won't be £150, you're looking £350-500. @Alan PBTD

But yes, add your mate to list for now.

The noise tests at Combe aren't comparable with anywhere else I've been in my experience. My cbr measures between 92 and 94 everywhere except combe where it measures 99. Last time I was at combe there was a bunch of old boys running historic bikes with no silencers to speak of that sounded deafening from 20 feet away with earplugs and a lid on... all went through at 99.

Second hand OE exhausts look cheap for that bike on ebay.

On the subject of noise mate, am i right in thinking Paddy has a new V4 Ducati as there has been some issues with them at Pembrey even as standard. I remember speaking to @Alan PBTD about it last year so he might be able to clarify as some got black flagged with the new V4 engines

And @Beancounter , be good to see you again matey, likewise @Nobby @singlesman @Timmy and @Screwdriver - and @Claude @Nordboy @DEADPOOL (or @Deadpool2 - am not sure what the difference, if any is? :D )- would be good to meet you IRL at last

And don't think he's on here, but would be good to see Bubleshoes again too
I keep saying that I'll do one of these track days. I did book on one before tearing all the tendons in my right thumb in work so I couldn't ride!!

This years excuse is that I don't have my Fazer thou working, it needs a proper service, carbs are all clogged up and probably new suspension all round. I honestly can't see me getting it done this year either, other priorities seem to be taking over.
I did fancy a new bike this year, but that conversation with the wife went down like a lead balloon!!

Paddy had the V2 Panigale & it went through ok last year with standard pipes. He has got a new Troy Baylis V2 waiting to be picked up in the dealers & so he should be ok again this year

The reason we go to Combe for noise testing is that they are so strict, if the chief scrutineer says he would let you out on track there, you can guarantee your have no trouble at another circuit.

However, its not ALL about the db noise limit at Coombe, they are equally concerned about how far the noise travels, & this is different for different engine configurations. For example I took my Ducati there 2 years ago for a test & it measured 102db with open Termi pipes - over the 100db limit. However the scrutineer said he would let me out on a track day because the noise from a v twin doesn't travel very far.

On the other hand the noise from a screaming IL4 - even one measuring below the circuits db limit - will travel for miles & then they get complaints & the threat of closure. This explains why the circuit have banned some new IL4 bikes with standard pipes.

It will be interesting to see where an IL triple fits into this scenario.

We don't have a Hire Bike facility.

And the fella with the Daytona 675 - it's of no interest how noisy it is at other circuits, it's what's measured on the day. Plenty of time tho' to get a used std system and make sure it's well packed and serviceable.

ACU licences are fine - but best to be current.

Current crop of Ducati V4's are troublesome - Pani's / Streetfighters etc have to unmodified std showroom systems on them - and then it's tight. In Race mode in the dry and on the gas they blow all but 100 DB on ''drive by''. Wet map settings are OK. To be honest, if it's got a Ackro / Tig system / can on it don't bother bringing it. Dunno on V2's @ the moment.

''Bigyin'' gets a get out of jail card if he turns up on a MS V4 Pikes Peak.....

If i could blag one i would just for that

I doubt my local dealer will let me have one for the weekend no matter how well i get on with them with it being £24,595 as a starting price for the model ...... even if i could afford the damage deposit as last time they let their bikes go on track their was a few grand lodged on a credit card in case you dropped it. I know one guy dropped a Streetfighter at Snetterton and he lost the 1500 quid crash deposit for a low speed off at Russells with the bike pretty much still in one piece (now Murrays chicane)

I assume there'd be no issue if someone could persuade a hire company to turn up though. I know a few years back, Smallboys were asked and would have attended, but ended up being not needed.

Although as i say, i think we're looking a lot more cash than £150, especially if a one-off and they're not already attending.
