The problem is that you can't leave your car unlocked, if you've left your house empty while you're there then you'll be burglarised, if you go there on Friday night there will be fighting in the carpark, and 50% of everyone within 500 miles of that pub is a knobhead

Don't worry, it pales into insignificance when you can get 25 years for "possession" of CBD vape juice where he lives!weeksy wrote: ↑Thu Nov 11, 2021 10:49 amI'm assuming that's just baitPotter wrote: ↑Thu Nov 11, 2021 10:48 amLovely.

Re: pensions
My old colleague used to leave his carbon BMC bike unlocked outside CooP every lunchtime, it was fine. The key is to not live in the grim north.

You really should move from StokePotter wrote: ↑Thu Nov 11, 2021 1:27 pmIt was obviously tongue-in-cheek but that's the big pain in the arse when we come home, I have to tell the kids to lock doors, don't leave valuables on the dashboard when we leave the car, lock the front door, be careful walking around London in a t-shirt and an expensive watch, etc.
Don't leave your bicycle outside the shop or it'll get pinched - the last time my lad went to the UK he left his snazy Wethepeople bike outside Asda and was really surprised when he came out and it was gone.
Go careful if you go out drinking, don't go to certain places, etc.
They're really not used to any sort of burglary, violent street crime or robbery or car theft.
Not to mention every time we go somewhere and I leave my Landrover parked up I'm always expecting it not to be there when we come back.
So yeah, a bit of Thursday lunchtime fun but it doesn't half piss you off when you're used to no crime and you come back to a nation of thieving bastards.

Re: pensions
There are roads and houses down there and a village somewhere just off to the right + Gatwick off to the left. On a clear day you can see the sea. Not long ago the Weald was a place you tried to avoid as it was pretty lawless. Lots of old smugglers tracks to the coast and lots of long barns that you could drive the horses+wagon full of booze and baccy into sharpish without unhitching them. Some of the MTBers on here should recognise it as it's taken from Leith Hill tower where there's a café in the base of the tower. (It's not my photo).Dodgy knees wrote: ↑Thu Nov 11, 2021 1:39 pmCount Steer wrote: ↑Wed Nov 10, 2021 4:29 pm Oi loiks trees. No volcanos but has some good bike roads. Shame about the MTBers

eg...
'The gang's exploits were legendary and some say they virtually ruled the south east for a period. In 1744 it is recorded that three large cutters laden with contraband sailed into Pevensey. The goods were loaded onto 500 waiting packhorses to be carried inland for distribution. Their ability to put such a huge transport convoy in place, and brazenness in running their illegal trade so openly, says much about the extent of their power and influence. In many ways, the time was right for such an enterprise. Britain was about to become the powerhouse of the industrial revolution in the early 18th century, but in the countryside, all was not well. The population was rising but jobs were scarce and the land enclosures had put many smaller farmers out of business altogether. Faced with many mouths to feed, some people turned to smuggling as an alternative career.'

Re: pensions
I've just read that from 2028 you can't access your pension until your 57, instead of 55.
