There's no denying their success, but the 'eggs in one basket' carries risk too. If they don't have that stellar rider who is head and shoulders above the rest,ie Spencer,Doohan,Rossi or Marquez, then their machines are well off the pace.formula400 wrote: Wed Nov 10, 2021 9:23 pmseems to work as they have the most wins in the premier class no?Skub wrote: Tue Nov 09, 2021 2:39 pm There's a corporate arrogance exampled well by big manufacturers like Honda. They have complete belief in their product and if it's not winning races, then the rider needs to change,or they need to change rider.

Same for everyone. What team has or has had 2 Stella riders that win it all the time. If I was Mr Honda I’d be building Marc what ever he wants. Currently he’s the best there is. Hands down. So what if they don’t win it for a year.

They'd rather have just 1st, rather than 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th.Skub wrote: Thu Nov 11, 2021 10:39 amThere's no denying their success, but the 'eggs in one basket' carries risk too. Yamaha in the 1980s and 90s went from Roberts to Lawson to Rainey pretty seamlessly, but all of those ride a bike the same way.formula400 wrote: Thu Nov 11, 2021 12:39 pm Same for everyone. As far as I can remember the only riders to be really successful on more than one manufacturers bike in the premier class are Agostini, Lawson and Rossi, so manufacturers have probably always built bikes around their best rider.
