However, with the introduction of the clean air act in 1956, which stipulated that only smokeless fuels could be burnt in towns and cities, did London finally cease to be the Big Smoke. Having attempted underwater photography with one back in the early 80's, I can confirm they are only for operation on land.
I always wondered why some people called them land cameras
