I'm really trying not to make cake!! LOL LOL

So far I have -

Courgette Crumble
Various soups
Courgette and Ginger Jam
Courgette Chutney
Zucchini Bread
Flourless Zucchini Brownies (they cheat, they use almond flour!!!)
Courgette Slice
Stuffed Courgette

As well as the mahoosive courgettes from today, I still have one in the fridge from the last bag of 'goodies'!!!

It would be so much better if I actually liked courgette!! LOL
Made a marrow and ginger jam a few times and it's excellent, far better than it sounds!
You could try frying them over a fairly hot flame with butter and sliced garlic, keep them moving gently (otherwise you'll have mush) until the garlic starts to lightly brown and serve - my favorite way of eating them.
Spiralise them and use in place of spaghetti, got to lightly fry them in oil, too much and it'll be mush again :D

Got a lift into Marmaris to get a bit or steel so I can fix my bearing/hub puller - I need it to pull the flywheel off my outboard motor and at the moment it doesn't pull square.

Also popped into the private hospital as I have a swollen and very sore elbow which I had clouted a few days ago. I could have gone to the gov't hospital for free but I'd have to make an appointment and queue up with the sick, poor people. The private procedure is very simple: turn up at the cashier and pay for the consultation - £12.25; wait outside the doctors office 9he's an orthopaedic specialist) until he gets your name up on his computer; explain what happened; agree to an XRay to make sure there's nothing broken; pay for the XRay - £3.50; have a couple of pictures taken; go back to the doctor who is already checking the XRays (nothing broken just bursitis); Allow doc to remove some fluid from swollen elbow; collect post-it note with code on from doctor's assistant; walk out.

Stop at nearest chemist, hand post-it note to lassie who checks the code on her computer and gives me some pills. Pay 27 tl (£2.36) and head home.

Time taken from arrival at hospital to leaving the chemist's - 55 minutes (we had a cup of tea as well :) ) Total cost £18.11

Now, as I said, because I pay SGK health insurance (the gov't scheme)I could have done all of it for free except the £2.36 for the pills but almost certainly I'd still be there now waiting. I'd be sorted today, no problem but as it's the hottest covid hot spot in town, going private was acceptable - the SGK insurance pays about 85% of the cost.

I'm sure the NHS is wonderful but can you get sorted in an hour?

Yup. Even the Spanish NHS is walk in walk out. Never queue or make an appointment.

Almost. My Step Dad fell over and knocked himself out. Taken to hospital for assessment and observation. Sent home the following morning with a swollen, un x-rayed wrist. Back up later that day as it was so painful. After being left in various corridors with no food or drink, he finally got his wrist plastered and sent home just over 9 hours later. Now suffering from dehydration and a water infection, he was readmitted. 8 days later he's still in there. Ain't cost us a penny! 8-)

£100 lighter and the naughty X trail now has a new battery. Fortunately all the nasty warning lights have gone out as well (unlike my brothers Disco3 that needed a new plastic brain after the battery failed).

When my Dad was knocked of his bike a while back he had the opposite problem! His wrist felt OK, but the clever computer based X-ray system insisted there was something wrong despite the doctor disagreeing! So the fixed him up with treatment anyway - the next day his arm started hurting and further examination revelated it was broken.

In a cup?!! :o :o

LOL nothing gets done without a cup/glass of tea. I left the missus in the hotel one time while I popped out to get some TL. She was a bit panicky by the time I got back as, of course I had to have a glass of tea (or 3) with the manager at the bank and help him with his English homework. I was out nearly 2 hours!

I invariably ask for fincan çay (a cup of tea) as the little glasses are well, just little.

The insistence on tea is one of the best things about living here. When I was making boats, I used to get my copper wire (for holding panels together) from a workshop that rewound electric motors. The boss wouldn't even think about discussing my needs until we had drunk tea. He would then give me the copper wire for free even though copper is expensive and ignored my wanting to give him something. I'd had a look around though and seen what tea they drank and I'd drop off a 3 kg bag of tea as payment. Turks are incapable of refusing a bag of tea so we were all happy.

When we bought our kelim in Konya I think the whole process took about 2 days and endless cups of elma çay. I thought apple tea must be some exotic thing until I saw the Liptons powder in a shop. (It turned out that the chap that did the go-between role between us and the dealer had previously lived about 500 yards away from us in London when he was studying and topped up his cash shipping and selling rugs and carpets to Harrods).

Meanwhile, what I've done today is my exercise programme, had a stroll in the woods and pottered around the internet looking at stuff I've been told (by SWMBO) we need to buy. :hmmm:

I'll try. The best thing so far has been fritters with feta and lemon. I'm not a fan of courgette at all. It's a bit watery and yucky. But, it's fresh and healthy and not properly horrible! So I best MTFU and do stuff with it!! LOL
We've been growing courgettes and have had a glut of them, so our last couple of weeks have been courgette recipes. The best was courgette muffins.

Grate courgette into a colander. Add a tea spoon of salt, mix in. Leave for 10 minutes. Then squeeze it to remove excess water and place in separate bowl. Add two eggs with salt and pepper to taste, mix in well. Take the mixture and place into cupcakes and blind bake it for 15 minutes at 180C.

Add in the the prepared mixture which is chopped peppers, onions mixed with feta and topped with fine grated parmesan cheese.

Bake for a further 15 minutes. Eat. Turned out to be the nicest of the crop of recipes we have used. The courgette cake was nice, but the wife did that so I cannot remember the recipe straight off.

Just had a nice German Apple cake which we made using nice windfall apples from our neighbours garden. Made her a cake as well by way of thanks. We love using was we get from the garden.

I 'might' try the curry. But I just think that the courgette will spoil it!!! I've just made the Radish leaf pesto and a bastardised kinda ratatouille (didn't have everything for it - well, no peppers!)

I'll have a look for some recipes. Courgette raita sounds interesting. But cooked courgette is just yucky - to me, so it seems!! However, apparently they are good for you. Healthy stuff!! LOL

Will make chutney and marmalade with some of it tomorrow! Best go to the garage and find some empty jars!! LOL

We've had about 10 facetimes with my daughter showing us her progress on moving in day. I feel sorry for my wife who feels she should be there and in many ways i wish I was there helping, but I'm also glad i'm not trying to keep up with 20 somethings, unloading stuff and running up and down stairs etc.

I got a text from Argos saying if we are isolating to contact them about delivery arrangements for the fridge freezer and washing machine we've bought my daughter. So I did and guess what, they cancelled it! Instant 10 day suspended delivery. I thought they want to advise on social distancing etc, but no, just instant postponement.

My daughter has her first food order being delivered on Thursday, frozen stuff included, so that really bollocksed things up. I cancelled and managed to get it through AO, who also agreed to deliver to my Daughters boyfriends parents house and then follow them to the new place as its not yet on their postcode finder! Great service from AO! Phew!
