Re: Control screen/unit to act as a Jukebox??
Seeing your other related post I will just outline the versatile system I have. At the heart is a very small computer running Windows 11. This has some software originally called Logitech media Server but transferred to an open source environment and renamed Lyrion. https://forums.slimdevices.com/fo...

Re: Recommend a Bluetooth speaker - old Bose speaker to phone 😡
This is one of those threads that starts small and widens out! Firstly on the bluetooth speaker issue. If you want a low cost solution then try the Creative Pebble stereo speakers. These sound surprisingly good for their size and price. They have the advantage that they have both Bluetooth and USB i...

Re: Leccy or ice ???
These are hopelessly unsuitable for UK roads. Those low profile tyres and very expensive alloys wouldn't last five minutes if the owner wanted to exploit even a fraction of the performance. First failure to avoid a pothole would be very costly. Even a parking nudge of a kerb would ruin the rims. Its...

Re: HONDA V3 "Turbo"
I predict that this will never reach production. Its a nice show machine but there is little rational for that three cylinder layout and I suspect that the compressor will only function to improve emissions by allowing a lower mechanical compression ratio. If it is designed to burn hydrogen that wou...

Re: Do fuel stabilizers work
First essential is to use E5 in everything. For my three 1970's machines, which in all honesty I don't ride very far or very often, and my petrol mower, I use a few drops of some stuff called Ethanol Shield which is often sold in garden centres and is not too expensive if bought on-line. Starting is...

Re: Is This A Motorcycle?
No it is not a motorcycle. Yamaha carefully avoid quoting the power output but to comply with regulations it will be 250 watts or less. Like any legal ebike assistance stops at 15.5 mph ( 25Kph) and with those energy sapping balloon tyres you would need a downhill stretch to exceed that on leg power...

Here is my favourite from the 1970s. A twin cylinder Yamaha 125 which ran rings around the stodgy British four strokes on the road even with only a quarter of their cc's. Ducati450-Yamaha125.jpg On the left is a Ducati 450 racer. The Yamaha was last known to DVLA in 1997 - I hope its still around.

Re: BMW K100 starter motor won’t stop turning
There may be what BMW call a load shedding relay which also connects to the starter positive ( black wire?). presumably it is meant to turn off non vital drains while the starter is operating but I wonder if it could be a voltage source due to some fault elsewhere.

Re: Talk to me about boost plugs!
There could be some connection between over-fuelling and oil in the airbox if the oil smells of fuel and the level seems to be high but then falls after a long run. Namely that unburnt fuel washes off the oil on piston scrapper rings and blow-by carries fuel into the crankcase. Oil will smell of pet...

Re: Clutch not fully disengaging - any ideas?,
If the transmission does disengage but drags enough to prevent neutral being found it could be caused by overfilling the oil possibly combined with high idle speed.

The brushes are probably accessed via the bosses on opposite sides when you unscrew the caps with the screwdriver slots.

Re: Leccy Problem
If its an old drill it could have brushes running on an armature. These can wear out but they can also just stick randomly. Worth taking apart to have a look. Motors with brushes would show some arcing in normal use that is usually visible.

Re: Have they ruined Ebay ??
Ebay is becoming unfathomable in many respects. The search engine seems to get things very wrong if you allow it to make choices by category. For example when I searched for a monitor recently using its pre-defined size range it completely missed the very common 21.5 inch screen size in the results....

Yes I think you've got it and tracing the cables will tell you for sure. Only the Italians would use the same colours for live and earth wires but are you sure that the lower of the black and white cables isn't too close to that stud too?

Re: The continuing saga of my Lancia Beta Spider
Sparks mean a big short circuit so don't attempt to connect the battery again until you have found the cause . This is assuming you haven't done something daft such as connecting the battery the wrong way round! Big current drains would only be possible with items such as starter motor and starter ...

Re: Completely Motorbikes... Gone into Administration...
So sorry for those who have lost livelihoods or are caught in the middle. Personally I seem to have had a narrow escape as I received my new Honda from Thunder Road at the beginning of last month. The service from the manager in Gloucester was excellent and I can only hope they come out of the mess ...

... and don't forget the water pump. On a modern engine it may be buried out of sight but it could still leak water into the oil or onto the ground. There are also quite a few generic sealed plastic thermostat housings which have become notorious for splitting and loosing coolant lately.

Re: Riding Simulator?
There are plenty of driving simulators with a high level of realism but they are all dedicated to race simulation and not helpful for road safety training. My favourites are truck simulations such as Euro Truck and Snowrunner but even those are more about vehicle handling and situation observation/r...

Re: Intermittent Brake Failure.
Make sure that there is a gap between the master cylinder piston and the lever when the lever is released and also that the piston is returning properly so that the port connecting to the reservoir is open. Might be a problem if the lever travel has been mechanically reduced to suit smaller hands fo...

Re: New CCM Street bikes
One bad experience can put you off a brand for ever! I tried a big midlands dealer's demo machine and was back at the dealership five minutes later. It vibrated like crazy and the carb was flooding enough to stop the engine if the throttle was closed. From memory I think that was a Suzuki engined mo...
