Re: Super bike Factory - would you buy without seeing?

Hold on. No one is saying anything about the front wheel??? I offered to lend tools, I'm not touching that, it's horrible. Yeah sounded like it was going to be sorted in his Dad's workshop. Although presume sorted as in the wheel bearings rather than it looking like it was off a fishing trawler :lo...

Re: Super bike Factory - would you buy without seeing?

Whereabouts in Suffolk is the Fireblade and where in Kent do you want it? Do you know what's wrong with it? I’m currently sat in Burger King copdock. My dad can get it back to his house on the outskirts of Ipswich and I’ll AA back down to my house in Kent. Might take a look around the area while I’...

NBT - Yamaha FZ8

As some of you may have seen on a thread a couple of days ago, I was looking in to getting rid of my CBR929RR to get something more practical for my commuting duties but still a bit of fun. I was looked at Fazer 8s as I’d had a FZ8 before and liked it, so thought a FZ8 with a bit more fairing would ...

Re: Super bike Factory - would you buy without seeing?

It’s not the Fazer 8 I was looking for, but it is an FZ8 with a givi rack, so close enough: 2F5D4FCD-4E0F-4DA1-A178-FA7E6464051E.jpeg I bought it this morning from a Yamaha dealership in Colchester. I don’t think I got it for a bargain price, but I’m happy with what I paid for the cleanliness and se...

Re: Super bike Factory - would you buy without seeing?

Thanks for the tip, but I get absolutely nowhere near the potential of the FireBlade with my skill level, so I’m happy to step down a bit. I’ve had a few bikes around the 100bhp area and all been plenty enough for me. I do like the look of the GSXS1000, but they do seem to be a bit outside my price...

Re: Super bike Factory - would you buy without seeing?

Yeah, I think it’s a pretty cheap and easy ish fix. I was after a new bike anyway (hence the thread) and this has sped that up a bit. I need two forms of transport (one for my wife, one for me) asap, so think I’ll try and find a new bike and then fix this one up, get it a new MoT and sell.

I might be wrong, but I think there should be a bushing in there?

Re: Super bike Factory - would you buy without seeing?

I noticed the finance rate when I was in there. You'd have to be nuts or desperate to get finance from them. I think around the same time I'd got a loan from Tesco for about 7% Didn’t even look at the loan rate. I don’t like loans. I buy thinks outright or don’t buy them (therefore only ever owning...

Re: Super bike Factory - would you buy without seeing?

Thanks for the feedback everyone. It’s mostly as id suspect and the advice id generally give to people as well. Look at the bike in person. My search just got a whole lot higher in priority as my FireBlade just developed a bad knock and wobble in the front fork/suspension area to the point i pulled...

Super bike Factory - would you buy without seeing?

Hi All, After a all year round year of use of my old CBR929RR, I’ve decided to get a more upright bike that can have a top box for better commuter use. So the FireBlade will be going and I need to get something new. I’ve settled on a Fazer 8. I had the FZ8 before and really like it, so the Fazer 8 b...

I’m probably being stupid, but I just can’t find them. Maybe I need to watch eBay for 2nd hand ones that come up.

I’d not heard of these. They look pretty good and I can find a kit. I’ll see how the tail bag goes and maybe look in to this if it doesn’t work

Re: New (to me) bike day - 2000 Honda CBR900RR

When I commuted on my klx650 😁 I came out of a 2 til 10 shift and found my top box hinges had been set on fire and lost my helmet, scarf and gloves. So I bought a second car. 👍 Oh shit, that’s no good! We do have two cars, but the motorbike is so I can skip through heavy traffic and be home in time...

Re: New (to me) bike day - 2000 Honda CBR900RR

You could, although it's far from aesthetically pleasing, get a spare rear seat and bolt a top box to the seat. I've seen that done to a few bikes mainly sports bikes. But they tend to be like my brother's mate's old R1 that was hand painted NATO green with RAF roundels on it complete with handle b...

Re: Tailbag that can hold a helmet

Tbh, I haven't used that bag on the mt. The mt pillion seat is tiny. Good for fuckall. On the tracer it fit perfect, just straps under seat. That's why I went top box on the GSXS (as well as top boxes just being easier/better if uglier) the rear seat is like a sports bike's short and tapered. I thi...

Re: New (to me) bike day - 2000 Honda CBR900RR

Brief update on life with the Fireblade. To recap, I needed a bike to go to and from the train station (6 miles ish) to avoid traffic. There were plenty of more sensible choices, but I wanted something interesting, so chose the Fireblade. Should I have gone for the sensible option with top box and b...
