It is also a leader in green energy – it provides 83% of its power through hydropower. Its biggest dam at Lake Kariba was completed in 1960. Lake Kariba was built and funded by the UK, does that mitigate some of the responsibilities? Zambia was Northern Rhodesia back then, one of our colonies. A co...

Re: Budget day. Watcha hoping for/dreading?

Same as pubs... pubs are not closing because of anything other than a lack of customers. all IMO of course. Perhaps the lack of customers is down the the cost of a pint of beer, and the affordability of going down the pub for a couple of pints a few times a week? I remember being horrified in 1988 ...

Ducati 900 monster - open cans and slightly smaller numberplate, which was on it when I bought it some 10 years ago, looks better on the cut down tail. Ducati 750SSie - just the open cans, it's what it came with 15 years ago but they aren't offensive, haven't got originals anyway. Ducati ST3 - just ...

Just really chuffed I finally got here :)
Great choice for a first bike, you'll be absolutely fine on that for a while, just build experience riding it!

Re: Biker Bingo

So you did race at Assen? Cool. I was racing in Desmodue and we had one annual race at Assen as part of the Ducati Club Race weekend, it was pretty epic although our little monsters and SS's were pretty flat out for much of the circuit! The Dutch thought we were nuts, we were lapping on our 620 53b...

19, haven't ridden off with the lock on. Ran out of fuel once, on track at Assen in pre qually practice, have done most of the optional extra ones, riding off with the side stand down was the most alarming, first left turn, BANG! Was that a race? Sidestands are banned normally. No, the side stand w...

The WTC one on 9/11 was incredible, VD was ahead of every single news channel.
That was thanks to Blondie I think, she was working on the Sky news desk (or might have been BBC) and shared it as it came in, well before it made it to the news presenter. It was pretty incredible!

One of my first memories of VD was a thread with some ginger lass posting pics of her diddling her own fanjo with a dildo as part of a photo shoot. Other stuff happened I’m sure.
Wasn't she called BlackWolf or something like that?

Re: Battery Drill

I use Makita and Bosch. Both have been reliable so far, both do the job, but I actually think the Bosch has the edge - it’s noticeably better on hammer setting drilling into brick or concrete, has a great screwdriver torque limiting feature, and works well as a drill into steel. The Makita has been ...

I thought I'd have a quick look, you know, skip through the boring bits, see the end result.
Then I'd reached the end, hadn't skipped a second, and it was dark outside.
Great watch!

Another thing that's really impressed me, obviously all accommodation around Barrow was booked up in no time at all, and with the population of the town literally doubling Saturday night there were thousands of bikers without accommodation. The people of Barrow all rose to the challenge, anybody wit...
