Mk IV 2.0 Ghia Cortina. In white with a black vinyl roof and Ro-style wheels. I loved that car.

Leather rigger boots from Screwfix. I've had a pair for a few years, utterly waterproof for extended periods in filthy muddy conditions, fake fur lined and extremely comfortable and warm. Cleaned up they make good bike boots as well. About 40 quid if you get the proper waterproof kind.

Unless you're a big fan of beasties, mice, birds, eight legged monsters and an attic that will look like something out of Hammer House of Horror crossed with an Alien film, I'd steer well clear. Plus gigantic bills every twenty years or so. My mate lives in a cottage in Oxfordshire with a thatched r...

Re: Contractor to permanent job... how much?
The only time I went from Evil Kontractor Skum to permie was when I worked at UCL. They asked me and I said I might be interested, the money and benefits they offered me was pretty much jaw dropping, nearly as much as EKS but with sick pay etc, so I accepted. Then promptly snapped my ACL marshalling...

Kelty are you not? Survive that dump im sure you will be fine (Y) Nearly forty years ago. The village of my birth, where even the worst school taught us punctuation and grammar. If I can manage it squinting sideways through cancer drugs and Jack Daniels, you have no excuse. Have a word with yoursel...

** An Announcement **
Today I had it confirmed, I've given birth to a bouncing baby stage 1/2 throat cancer. On the bright side, this is one of the most treatable cancers with a very high survival rate, unfortunately the treatment is brutal. As part of the diagnosis I had whole body MRI scans which confirmed what I had a...

Heh. The president of Honda (can't recall his name, it was about 2001) used to call me 'Scary Tattoo Man' :) It was when Honda UK moved their HQ from Chiswick to the new building in Langley. It was a massive greenhouse of a place and the AC had failed so we could all come in wearing shorts, t-shirts...

Re: Movie 'Classics'... What say you...
Given that my usual criteria for what makes a good film is that it must contain tanks or spaceships, preferably both, it's not surprising I forgot these. Mad Max (My all time favourite. I can pretty much recite the script, even been to the old pump station in Melbourne where they filmed MFP HQ, had ...

I had a vague idea about a bunch of really thick pisshead wasters in the not too distant future discovering that they could get various AI bots to do highly illegal stuff for them with virtually no skills whatsoever.....

I believe you can get e-cigs in the shape of a classic style pipe. You could smoke one of those with 0% juice in, without becoming addicted to nicotine. You can't do it in the office though. And the only reason to smoke a pipe is so that when someone asks you a question at work, you can lean back i...

I nearly bought this last year on the way back from the pub one Sunday afternoon. I was walking past and I thought "nicely restored Capri" then the old chap started it up. The hairs on the back of my neck stood up and I walked back, it sounded like the world was coming to an end. V8 Chevvy...

An Echo Studio with Amazon Prime music subscription. All the music in the world for 8 quid a month. It's very rare that it doesn't have some obscure track that I'm looking for. "Computer! Play Bug's Parade by Jimmie Lunceford, then For Adolfs Only by the Valves" Still got loads of vinyl an...
