Re: What have you done today thread?

Tidied the shed and workshop, and started stripping down another pillar drill, This one is a gearboxed Meddings. And heavy, the column is 75mm diameter solid bar, and the rest of it is cast iron.

Re: recommendations for delivering a motorcycle

Weesky's your man for this, recommendations rather than actually doing it I mean.

I've generally fetched and delivered my own. Other people's too, but only if the circumstances are right.

What do you say if your gas is out? :eh: Back to the time machine! What does your central heating run on then? ...and if it's oil (you must be well rich), what do you say if your oil is out? :) If it happened, and my best beloved got cold, I wouldn't say a word. Dead men tell no tales.

Ha ha

The thing about being customer facing is to 'think' those things, post them on a forum, but NEVER say them to the guest !!
It not like you named the resort, used your real name and posted on a public forum.

Re: What have you done today thread?

Tidied and sorted the shed, including testing a pressure washer, a Miele vacuum and a Henry vacuum I pulled out of a skip recently. They all work after a bit of tweaking

I've now got eight vacuum cleaners and four pressure washers. :wtf:

Re: Ebay 'WTF' bikes

Flagship rare early Japanese bikes go for a chunk, sandcast CB750s come to mind. They were pretty market breaking at the time too, a mid range Korean knock off of a mundane modern Japanese engine isn't quite as iconic.

Businesses I don't quite understand

When battering up the A1 recently I noticed some of the old Little Chefs or similar had been turned into combined cocktail bars and sex shops. I know both of these types of places exist and thrive, it just seems an odd place to have them. It's never occurred to me to go for a drink in what looks lik...

Nope, I don't drink coffee. If you were to start doing tea blends I might be interested.

Re: Buying number plates online

Thanks. I'd already bought one before I posted this, it was more curiosity that prompted the post.

Standard plates seem to be about £15, and nobody sells the cheap flimsy plates that fall apart in a matter of weeks, only their competitors sell those. :|

Buying number plates online

Where do you get yours? Having read of preferences for white or black backgrounds I thought I might get the choice, but I couldn't find a supplier that gave me the options.

It's no big deal, the plate's behind me and the bike is scruffy.

Enough is enough. 1200 BTU's of chillyness incoming; https://dccf75d8gej24.cloudfront.net/images/products/01/010510578/4E545B15-BF60-4D6A-B045-A4980B529AC7-huge.jpg Surprisingly, no bugger here bothers with that. Ordering stuff that turns out to be smaller than you expected, despite knowing how big they are when you order them.

I bought a 100mm rotary table for the pillar drill, I know how big 100mm is, and it's near equivalent in inches, so WTF was I surprised how small it was when it arrived. :eh:

Re: Road biased tyres for mt DT200

It's registered, I just need a number plate. That'll be a week then. Mind you, it might take me that long to move the boxen in front of it. One and a half loads in a MWB Trafic, and I can pack well. There's a lot of boxen. I've done naff all about the tyres, I got distracted looking at supermoto whe...

Mason also wrote a couple of tolerable thrillers about a robot, Solo, and Weapon.

Authors from me:

John Le Carre
Tom Wolfe
Len Deighton
George Perec
William Boyd

I'm giving Peter May a go, as he's written a series based on Lewis.
