Went there some years ago in January with friends. They sat us outside in their veranda, which I'm sure is lovely in the summer, but bitterly cold in January. Just a thin, plastic cover running the length of it. Within five minutes of realising just how cold it was, we demanded to be moved inside or we'd leave. They grudgingly did, but I wish we had just left as the food was overpriced, mediocre pub grub.

Shame, as the venue itself is a nice old pub.

Eaten in a lot of fancy places, many with Michelin stars, but some of the best food is basic food.

Fond memories of a place in Reykjavík - a well-known street vendor selling hot dogs, had a to visit a few times as were that good!

One of the most disappointing was a very spendy menu from a 2 Michelin starred place in Portugal, felt like grabbing a MaccyD's on the way back to our hotel.

+1 for street food/pop ups.

Fondest memory was a pop up in Lyme Regis doing Spanish food. Just magical. Couple running it were married and worked in IT- but their passion was food ( whose passion is fucking IT?) and it showed.

Best meal was in a small hotel in Jaipur, Pearl Palace Hotel. Black bean lentil curry with freshly baked chapatti and Limka. £3.50 for the meal and drink, it was absolutely stunning with incredible spices/flavour, fresh and just so satisfying in its beautiful simplicity.

I went to a restaurant in Edinburgh in 2019 ish. On the menu was T-Bone steak and as i had never had one before i thought why not. It was cooked to perfection and i was hungry so it went down really well. Washed down with a bottle or two of Gluten Free Daura Damm.

It was so nice looking i took a picture

Miller and Carter :D Mmmmmm nice. Their gravy is ridiculously good.
Think i have been four times now. Good good and reasonably priced. Few grades above Wetherspoons. Did you ever stick to a Gluten Free diet? They do a really nice GF Sticky Toffee Pudding.

I have the ribs at M&C, they're better than most and actually cheaper than TGI or Hardrock!

Like Wolfgang and his bratwurst van, he could pop up anywhere in northern Germany

Not a meal but Brown Loaf Bakery on Elgin Street Ottawa makes some of the nicest bread I have eaten. He's a really nice guy too.
He gave me a red bean bun to try which really is the nicest cake I've ever eaten.

I generally don't remember the food, it's the company and I hate to name drop but a cracking time was had when I had a random bite to eat with Giles Brandreth at the National Motorcycle Museum one day. It was just one of those random moments when you have a witty, handsome, brilliant entertainer with good taste and a fascinating life history...and Giles Brandreth, just sat together chatting away with no agenda.

Best meal we ever had though was years ago when we were staying at The Kimpton on Russell Square and we'd booked a meal in their restaurant that was a double of one of the restaurants on the Titanic, designed and built about the same time by the same designer - but they messed the booking up and by way of apology they sent us at their cost to a really small Italian place that was owned by a friend of the GM of the Kimpton (who was in turn a friend of my wife).
We can't remember the name of it but it was by far the best restaurant food we have ever eaten anywhere in the world.

Aside from that it would be fresh lobster cooked on our beach garden when we lived in the Bahamas and we'd swim out a few hundred feet away on the reef with the kids and spear lobsters and hog fish, dodge the sharks trying to pinch our grub and then come back and have a big feed on a Sunday afternoon.

Happy memories.
