Re: Best OBD reader?

A cheap obd code reader will only read engine management codes, it wont give you access to the abs system. You will have to fork out a bit more for a more expensive scanner if you want access to other systems other than engine management. It is more than likely one of the abs wheel speed sensors goi...

Was going to suggest the same, brass screw into the strands and then solder wire onto screw. Finish of with some epoxy, heat shrink for insulation

Re: NBT: I've just bought my forever bike!

I worked on these beuties when serving my time as an apprentice. Biggest piles of shit, although quite desirable when they came out. Few local farmers and estate workers moved from their simca vans to these, but they didn't last long and most were replaced quite swiftly with subaru estates. Wasn't ...

No Talbot was well put together. They made Fiat and Lancias look galvanised! But we can credit them with the birth of the Land Rover Discovery! https://i.ytimg.com/vi/WGnFZIyo3YY/hqdefault.jpg I worked on these beuties when serving my time as an apprentice. Re: CV Joint

If its the internal circlip that holds the shaft to the cv joint, then there is a fairly good chance the shaft will disconnect itself from the joint.
Best case senario is it wont have enough room to come completely out but will be driving on last few mm of the splined shaft and end up stripping

Re: Gravity

Old series landrovers also had twin tanks. Although might have just been old military vehicles. I had a series 2a military landrover with twin tanks under the seats. there was a valve below the dash next to the transmission tunnel that switched from tank to tank. It also switched the tank units over...

Re: ER 6n display problem

Not seen on this model but have has similar on other bikes which was down to dirty contacts in the ignition switch. Give the switch a good spray with spray lubricant and work/wiggle the key in/out and around. The ignition switch really is a bit stiff, what lube can be used on leccy switches & l...

Re: Plod have recovered my X-ADV!

Got the keys back so I went out tried it using the procedure in the manual and the video, but it didn't work? Its dark and raining and i was working under torchlight, so maybe i got the procedure wrong, but I don't think so. I assume they've recoded it with a new key, if such a thing can be done? I...

Re: Plod have recovered my X-ADV!

Is there not a specific procedure for releasing the steering lock and allowing you to turn on the ignition through inputting a specific code supplied with the bike by pressing the ignition switch for code input.?? I worked on a honda forza with keyless ignition where the bike didn't recognise the fo...

Re: Abba stands?

The strap is easy to use if you position it correctly and have the strap the right way around. Next to the buckle the strap has a loop. It goes onto the peg/bar in the loop of webbing. Then you just pull on the end to lift the front. Really heavy bikes you just stand with your foot through the botto...

Re: Rear wheel installation

On centre stand or abba stand, stick a jack under the front pipes and jack up until the rear tyre just touches the ground. Then remove spindle and slide wheel out. Refit the same way adjusting the jack until you can slide the spindle through while the wheel is sitting on the ground. Makes it easy to...
