3D printing?

Teng no longer stock the inserts for my MR101 set and i'm not keen on cutting a foam insert. So could I get this 3d scanned and printed and if so what sort of price would I be looking at?

Would 3d printing be overkill?

Someone could take a cast of it and vacuum form some plastic over the cast, gotta be cheaper than a 3d scan and print?

How is it broken? (I can see all the tools are in the wrong side). I agree with Bob though, scanning and printing would be a bit

You could make a mould using one of those aerosol foam sealants, coat it somehow and make the insert using the foam again - possibly.

Ah. Tricky to get a mould off it then although Airfix solvent type glues usually work with those sorts of plastics. If you could get it back together you might be able to coat the back with something to reinforce it?

Stick it back together as best you can, use plasticine to fill any gaps, then make a male 'buck' out of silicon.

3D printing is either gonna be a bit shit, thin and 'pixelated' or you're gonna have to pay proper money for someone with a proper machine to do it. The home brew 'CNC toothpaste tube' extrusion method won't get level of detail and smoothness you want IMO, a much more sophisticated MJF process would do it just fine but that's proper part money, more than a new toolkit would cost for a one off.

I'd say that Shadow Foam would be your best bet.

I'd like to say bring it down here, I've got some spare foam (much more than you'd need), and I don't mind helping you with the cutting (it can get a bit zen-like after a while), but I know that means braving the wilds of Sussex outside the M25, and you're scared of the dragons.

(BTW, if you're ever down this way in the camper, just let me know).
