Back in the day i'm not even sure why i sold it.... then 2 years or so later i almost bought it back, i really should have done so... It was honestly a sublime thing.... I think mostly it was the 'trackday' thing that caused me to sell it.
If i were in a world where i was sitting flush... I'd be jumping in and buying one.

I think I might be about to do it with the Griso, the roads are too rough and full of cash machines and grannies round here for it to be fun but I can't see me getting it to France in the near future.

It takes up a lot of room in the shed and the shed gets damp in winter so it's a constant battle to keep the corrosion down.

If someone offered 5k for it I'd probably let it go.

I've only sold one bike in my life, A CCM R30, it'd be nice to still have it in the garage but I'll not lose sleep over it

My Street Triple. Bloody loved that bike, sold it only because of the guilt of not riding it as much as I thought I should.

No, they all went for good logical reasons. Some were not worth repairing, some I just didn't fit and others because something better came along.

The closest would be my CB900F in 1986 or'87. It was either it's running costs or the mortgage. The mortgage won, helped by my being walking distance form work.

It's really the memories wrapped up in that GS I guess. I let it go because it seemed a terrible waste sat in the garage doing nothing when I couldn't ride. Sod's Law the knee got fixed shortly after...and I saw someone riding it down the local High Street.

Is that Orange Box's orange box behind it?

Yeah. That really. Out with the old, in with the new.

That said, I often see an old 'high pipe' 600 Hornet on my commute (sat next to it at the lights this morning, as it happens) and there's something about it that still floats my boat. I'm sure it's 'rose-tinted glasses syndrome', but I found my old one such a great, throw-it-around, no-frills, hoot-a-minute bike. Revved like an angry hornet, was cheap to run, reliable as an old family retainer and I'd put my stamp on it with some very, very tasteful mods.
Pretty sure if I got on one now I'd be very disappointed. There's a lot of truth in the old Chinese proverb, 'Wanting is better than having'.

Similar thoughts with my TL. I had an electrical issue with it and a "mate" offered to buy it off me for a good price for a non-runner; he took it home, fitted a new controller box from his stores, and sold it on for a profit within a week (or so I was told some time later). I was not happy about that.
