Cleaning textiles
Any of you have a shortcut to cleaning textiles?
Because I ride a naked bike, every time I come back I'm plastered in flies and custard/shit filled beasts. I cba to stick the jacket in the washing machine every week, especially when the next run will have the jacket just as bad.

Wear those disposable coveralls the investigators wear at crime scenes, throw away after each ride.

Re: Cleaning textiles
I have exactly the same problem. With my leather jacket I usually just wipe over with a wet wipe or wet tissue. However with my textile the type of material means the wet wipe/tissues starts to fray and leave white bits to make it look even worse.
So my current solution is a wet microfiber cloth, seems to work well enough for me. I should by now be in my leather every ride but it's been too cold till today. So like you every ride has seen my black textile jacket come home shot blasted with bits of insect.

Re: Cleaning textiles
Leather jacket gets a wipe over with a moist cloth.
Textile, let the bug guts dry, flick the worst of it off, live with the rest, wash off season.

Do you remember the fad for wearing body-warmers over leathers? That would have been late 70s / early 80s IIRC.Dodgy69 wrote: Thu May 18, 2023 8:56 pm Get yourself a cheap big fleece to wear on top easier to clean.![]()

Re: Cleaning textiles
I did that once. It made my pocket linings water proof. They then filled up with water and knackered my alarm immobiliser and stranded me at the services for 24 hours.wheelnut wrote: Thu May 18, 2023 9:08 pm Washing machine and Nikwax tech-wash followed tx wash in (I think it’s called)
