Distinguished Gentleman's Ride 2023

Post by Mr. Dazzle »

Anyone doing this?

Sunday May 21st.

It's been on my radar of things to do for the craic like. I've planned to do it the last couple of years but the Bonnie's not played ball. Touch wood she actually might this year!

Doubt it, will probably be frowning at a debris field of JAP bits wondering where it all went wrong.

It's a pretty much everywhere thing. There's even a DGR for Sheffield, I notice, which I quite fancy. Riding the LC in me whistle and flute rather appeals...

I could do the Sheffield one on my Bullet, but I don't have a tweed jacket!

I take it you have to own an old clanker to be included?

Old shitter is optional I think, but you are supposed to be dressed in a gentlemanly manor.

It started out like that, but the overriding object is to raise money for men's health problems, so I doubt you'd be turned away for having a modern bike.

Or even a Kawasaki...

Or something which is pretending to be one!

From what I hear it's a technicality anyway, they ask you to stay at the back if you're on something obviously modern just for the photo's sake.

I think I'm gonna be more leather jacket and silk scarfy than tweedy. Still got my FiL's jacket-of-many-zips in the cupboard.

You'd be foundered here in May in that clobber.

I've signed up for the MK one now...mostly 'cause it starts 4 mins from my house and finishes within easy rescue distance ;)

Gotta get sponsoring!

Yeah, I think that's the look I'd be going for. You can shove yer waxed moustache and tweed jackets where the sun don't shine...

I might get all Kappa'd up and go on the KTM. Then keep bouncing it of the rev limited and making the wheelstand.

I can think of better things to do on my birthday, though I suspect I'll be picking up my daughter from university, as she finishes on Friday the 19th of May until October

If you hold your thumb over the top part of the Kappa logo it looks like a bird with her growler out.
