Since getting the little KDX in the summer I’ve put 600kms on the clock.

It’s turned out to be in excellent nick for its 31 years, the only issues were the low gearing which meant being very gentle with the throttle or the front wheel was up. Sorted this with a 44 rear sprocket. In the heat of summer after about 1/2 an hours riding I was getting some surging coming off the throttle but before I could pull the carb off temps dropped and its fueling nicely now.
After a couple of wet rides I thought I’d check out the state of things under the plastic.
The rear sub frame was looking a little rusty.
The frame lock stop at some point has been ground down, too far on one side it turns out, the fork top tube is making contact with the frame!
The expansion pipe will probably need a decoke and the silencer repacked.
Rear brake calliper needs a clean up.
Speedo drive cable snapped recently.
Not wanting to freeze my tits off in the garage I’ve taken the bike down into the cellar where it’s a balmy 13 deg all year round and the lighting is better.
