NBT: New scoot thread!

Post by Taipan »

One mature owner and only 8.6k on the clocks. Never seen rain. Minter apparently? Winging its way to me as we speak. Job jobbed.

I know you've had an SH before, but if you want a tip, pull the plug on the reg/rec and fill the hole with MS4 or similar electrical grease. Where the unit sits to the right and in front of the rear wheel,it's prime position for spray and it takes a bath every time it rains.

I recently found one in the shed-of-plenty. Must have come with another scoot. Apparently, they are excellent for warmth and dryness and if you're riding a scoot I'm guessing appearances ain't really a concern...

Well if it hadn't seen rain before its seeing it now! Absolutely hammering it down here. The offer of a test ride was declined!

The poor Sod delivered it from Ealing and was waiting to go home and my bank decided to do a fraud check and stopped the payment! Yes, its in my best interests and I should be grateful, but, FFS, stop it and phone me, not text me they'll be in contact within an hour on average!

Must admit I'm getting tempted by a maxi-scoot again.
After filtering across Colchester tonight because every fukwit forgets how to drive in the rain, the ST1050 is just too big and heavy for the 8 miles a day.

To add it to my MT policy would have taken it to £1900! :wtf: Had to get stand alone policy with a mirrored NCD for £273 and £47 a year tax. Another oddity was a windshield. Puig Touring is over £120 in some places but I got one delivered for £73?Hell of a variation!

Just looked at the service history and it was just done with a new rear tyre and front pads too. So nothing to do other than stick juice in it and ride it and just hope I'm comfortable on it, or its public transport and Shanks Pony! :?

Having sold my BMW C400GT, I do find myself on the lookout for another scooter. Maybe a yammy x-max or something similar?

Totally off topic and apologies, today in work I picked up and rode a BMW C 4 E leccy scooter. It was brilliant fun to ride, pretty futuristic to say the least but easily comparable to my C400. 70 mile range and I topped it out at 76mph. handled ok, it is quite heavy but held its weight low down so once it was moving, it handled pretty well (has a reverse gear too, but I was too chicken to try that).

Just had a look. Very futuristic, but I kinda liked it! I'd love a leccy scoot, but they just haven't got the range I need yet. The bikes like Zero are prohibitively expensive.
