Wings in Moto GP
Do wings in MotoGP make the racing better or worse?
Do they lead to front end crashes?
Do they make the bikes too sensitive to front tyre pressure changes?
Should the riders having problems just learn to ride with them?

Re: Wings in Moto GP
Tech is hard to put back in the box,so only rule changes will do that.
I think the worst aspect is the turbulence caused, making it dificult for following riders to overtake.
Riders at that level will likely adjust to anything, but if we find ourselves in an F1 'follow the leader' scenario, then that really would be crap.

We're already there, lots of GP races are getting quite processional. Samey, static. The positions gained are because people crash.Skub wrote: ↑Sun Jun 19, 2022 8:36 pm Tech is hard to put back in the box,so only rule changes will do that.

WSBK is definitely more fun the last couple of years, but don't forget we are not long away from folk pissing and moaning about JR always winning, making it all a bore.weeksy wrote: ↑Sun Jun 19, 2022 8:39 pmWe're already there, lots of GP races are getting quite processional. Motogp is far more unpredictable.

Re: Wings in Moto GP
I tired to watch MotoGP on ITV today. I just couldn't get in to it. I think because I didn't care who won.

Re: Wings in Moto GP
I watched moto3 just for the crashes, moto2 for Lowes, I might get around to watching the GP in a day or 3, no rush as I too couldn't give a hoot who wins or notKungFooBob wrote: ↑Sun Jun 19, 2022 9:29 pm I tired to watch MotoGP on ITV today. Re: Wings in Moto GP
It is to me. It's seeing the best riders on best bikes pushing to the limit.
Club racing could be sometimes more exciting, but ultimately not in the same league.
Like footy in the park. A score of 9-8 is exciting, but a no score draw between Liverpool and Real Madrid is better to watch.

Re: Wings in Moto GP
I thought that the Sachsenring MotoGP race was an absorbing contest, despite not having loads of overtakes. Quartararo is rapidly approaching MM levels in the way he can dominate a race on a bike that no-one else can get in the top ten. Felt sorry for Pecco, but his tendency to make unforced errors is getting a bit worrying. And good to see JM able to send a bit of middle finger to the team that dumped him recently.
Seeing the physical state of the top three after the race illustrated just how much riding one of those 240bhp monsters takes out of you in 35 deg C heat on a track like that. They're all elite athletes and they were all totally shagged out.

Re: Wings in Moto GP
A mate has one of those beemers similar to Wull,he junked the cat and original can and had it set up on a dyno to suit. Nothing else was done to the bike and it pumped out 206bhp at the rear wheel. So that's where stock bikes are now. This is also why we have lots of electronic aids.
@MingtheMerciless ZH2 must do 190 odd bhp and that's a naked bike.

Re: Wings in Moto GP
This season has been pretty dull which is disappointing, it's certainly missing something as we've gone from overtakes all over the shop to very few in comparison.

Re: Wings in Moto GP
Before he went in for his shoulder op MM was quite vocal about how wings are spoiling the racing, Aleix Espargaro was another. While MotoGP isn't as bad as F1 yet, if aero continues to develop (as I'm sure it must do) then we're headed down that route.
If I were in charge I'd mandate no front aero from 1st Jan 2023 onwards.
