LED headlights again.
So, I bought this £18, 7” headlight unit. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/124654166155
Looks super authentic on a Triton haha.
Trouble was, the beam was exactly like it showed on the advert: full beam was not angled any higher than dip. Brighter but no higher, so a bit useless really!
Can it be fixed...?
To be continued.

Re: LED headlights again.
Went round the join between the body and the clear front with a knife and prised them apart.
The LEDs that come on for full beam are behind the round lenses. Everything is just screwed on. Tried angling the lenses up, individually and together, but that sent the beam shape haywire.
Next experiment was to slide the lenses upward. That appeared to do the trick.
So I slotted the screw holes, to hold the lenses up, about half a hole. The two half-moon lenses are the dipped light.

Re: LED headlights again.
Now the full beam lenses didn’t line up with the holes in the black plastic mask/pilot light holder, so I attacked it with nippers.
Also found this masking segment and sawed it off.
It’s back on the bike now, stuck together with silicone. Looks much better. If the weather calms down, I’ll try it out after dark.

Re: LED headlights again.
A better fix might have been to buy one that didn't need fixing.

Definitely not.
Fixing things is its own reward.
And also is the mark of a man (that’s true that).

I like fixing stuff too, but not new stuff. If it doesn't work properly it is refund time, but I think you may have missed your chance of that.

Fix it 'til it's broken. I've been there with that.

I had heard that your lot ran away at Cullodden. Now I believe it.Cousin Jack wrote: ↑Mon Nov 22, 2021 7:35 pm
