Like many others i followed his efforts to try and raise enough money to even race this year. Since then he has shown through his you tube efforts he can do a bit of presenting and as a result has landed a few stints on Eurosport so i assume thats where he is looking at directing his efforts from now on along with the rider coaching on trackdays as BMW also use him for their commercial days.

He comes across well and i hope he gets where he wants to be as he appears to be a good bloke

He set up his You Tube channel to fund his racing,he only got a deal for this season late in the day.

His dad was a works rider for many years, and perhaps didn't make the millions we expect nowadays.

Too true. Saw Billy at Oulton a couple of weeks ago after losing positions at the start carve his way through in, as you say, a bold fashion

Niall is an incredibly nice bloke and very sound, I'm sure he's given Taylor good advice, if Taylor's heart isn't in racing then it's time to do something else.

I watched the Bol D'or when he was commentating and he's actually pretty good at it.

I sort of meant that Mc Senior didn't make enough to push his kids, in the way that Gardner did.

I doubt if he did, he was young when he went to GPs and was only ever going to be second string, I doubt if he made much from winning BSB in the 90s.

Really good piece about his decision to retire and what life is like for racers who don't end up at the top. He comes across really well, hope he can sort something decent to do with bikes.

I'm sure anyone who's ever raced motorbikes can echo and feel some of his pain, both physically and mentally. Even at my level, when I stopped racing and made the decision to not do the next season it was hard, I felt like a failure, felt like I'd quit, all of his stuff really.
But I wasn't good enough or indeed wealthy enough to justify it.

When I was instructing with F.E. for 15 years, Niall was instructing as well. He brought the kids along so I've watched them grow up.

Taylor used to instruct on the BMW stuff well and he was very friendly

It's an interesting one as sometimes i wonder how and what riders bring to teams in this context. They'll have never 'run' a team before of course in terms of logistics, management, shipping, sponsorship etc. So are they coming in more as a mentor to the riders, a calm voice in terms of setup, riding etc, or are they coming in as the guy who organises everything from shipping the bikes to site, to finding funding, sorting catering, etc...

Camier seems to be doing alright as a team manager, however he was 'managed' for a lot longer than Taylor has. Good luck to him.
