2016 KTM690 What do I need to know!
Haven't picked it up yet and I won't get my grubby mitts on it until October.
But what do I need to know?, what parts should be on my ebay watchlist? (it looks pretty standard atm)

Is it that £3000 one?
If so, I'm impressed!
You don't get power modes or Traction control options without buying the Track Pack. £230.
With that you also get msr, which is like an additional slipper clutch.
Exhaust just makes things more noisy, not more power.
Fit a set of nice pads, I may even have a set of Brembo SA in spares.
IMO for track you'll want a rear shock, but only of really getting on the pace. The bike is 'loose' but without being scary, it moves, weaves, wobbles, under power and exiting corners etc. But it's all in a controlled manner.
Heated grips are an easy swap with connectors in the headlight.
As with all plastic tanks, dont overtighten any bolts.
Great choice.

How can I tell if it has the trackpack fitted?
I'll happily pay retail + post if you have good pads
Not planning on tracking it, but I will bear that in mind
It's got heated grips, not sure I'll get much use out of them, but lets see how I go !

Re: 2016 KTM690 What do I need to know!
You'll need Hammerite! Mine was very flaky round the bottom part of the frame, which I assume was because it had done similar mileage and KTMs aren't exactly known of their quality of finish. Maybe yours has only had dry use and hopefully wont be like it?
As weeksy says be careful with the panels. I took mine off of the tank and couldn't get the new ones on or the old ones back on! I had to drill out the holes on the panels slightly!
Check your oil level each ride and keep it topped up as it will use oil. If it sounds rattly get it into KTM asap as its not that dear to get the rockers replaced, but it does get expensive if you don't and the later ones do still go as Jim Aims has done a couple of them.
I can't remember the full details but I changed the fan sensor for one that kicks it in lower. This was because I was commuting in heavy traffic and always felt it was running too hot? Not an uncommon mod and the details/part number will be on the KTM forum and its about £30 and ten minutes of your time to do iirc?
Mainly though, just enjoy it. Cracking bikes and they just will you to cane them - everywhere! They are a bit flighty as they are very quick steering compared to say a XT660X, but they never really get out of shape and the flickability of them is what makes them such fun! I'm ever so slightly envious!

Well the deal's has been cancelled!
The seller didn't have a V5 and while discussing the options he confessed to thinking he sold it too cheap so cancelled the sale.
Ohh well

Arse biscuits.
I don't like the 'not having the V5' part. He sounds like a twunt anyway.

"Sold it too cheap"... without a V5.
