What's your favourite bits of kit/tools for the garage?

The one i like the most doesn't get much use... it's a headset crown race removal tool

It turns a horible job into an effortless one.

I use my wire brush wheel thingy a lot.

Black and Decker Workmate + cheap Aldi version. I have a couple of benches in the garage. Big one at the end and a smaller one with mitre saw and wheel polisher/grinder. But if it's sunny and it's a big or dirty/dusty job these two get used almost every week. Son in law bought the B&D one for me as a birthday present after he saw the state of the Aldi one which gets used as a degreasing, wheel cleaning etc stand a far bit.

Fork Seal Slide Hammer things, hardly use them, but there is something very satisfying about them.

I've been in my garage 4 years now and there's very little in there that shouldn't be.

Currently there's a massive bag of flour and a skateboard, but that's about it for interlopers.

If you never let it start to get bad, then it never does... Just 1 thing, then 1 more.... stop before that and you're onto a winner.

^ this was my problem. Brand new garage years ago which was to become a man cave. After the first dump of shite went in it became a landslide. Ended up being the land of a thousand postponed decisions. Anyway, one benefit of the lock down has been the time to get back into it. Man cave coming soon

A sheet of 6mm plywood screwed to a couple of 2x4s on the wall to which you then attach a number of hooks in the right height and width order for your stuff. You can then hang up all your shovels, forks, secateurs, ladders, lawnmower, etc keeping the clutter off the floor. Even brought ours with us when we moved house! I will let my (older and wiser) brother take the credit for that idea: he is anally retentive about the tidiness of his garage!

I have no workshop.

I make do with my balcony for cutting, routering, sanding and making a mess and the rest of the house for everything else. I have one bedroom as my model workshop and at the moment I have a big sheet of polythene down in my living room where I've been epoxying and gluing.

Reminds me of an old mate who lives alone,his front room is a workshop full of old Brit bike frames and half built engines all mixed in with 'treasure' he has recovered from his time as a diver. More fascinating to me than a pristine catalogue brochure look. Everything tells a story.

Usually a fucking long one too.

I should say that I've also used a friend's restaurant to build 2 boats, a space outside a jewellers shop to build my kayak and built 3 paddleboards in a friend's basement. My neighbour has been personalising his SX guitar on my balcony over the last couple of weeks. There might be some photos tomorrow for you Skub!
