Obviously, this has better brakes and suspension, and some lovely paintwork. But for me, it still adds up to less than a simple restoration of the original.

The more of these that you post up the easier I'm finding it to open the thread and just go "yes" or "no". There's clearly things about the bikes that are either doing it for me or not but I'm not sure what they are - I'm finding that I don't even need to look at the detail to decide.

This one is a very firm no.

You'd think they could have found a clutch lever to match the front brake lever.

Like that, doesn't have the empty gap in the middle.

It's little things like that , and the welding on the oil-tank* that let some of these specials down and make them look like they've been bodged together in a hurry.

* no - I couldn't do better, but lots of other people could....

Oil tank looks like a hastily-added afterthought when they realised that the CB750 is a dry-sump motor. And why didn't they paint it to match the seat/tank?

Hmm, Paint the oil tank, put a trad headlight on it and lose the poncy seat cover for something more simple and It'd be OK

Can't say I'm too sorry about that... leave 'em original and get back to making them look like the manufacturer intended rather than sticking tat all over them and calling it a 'custom'.

I quite like that.
Not keen on pod filters, as usual.
I assume the carbs are made by Bing? The only carb I've ever seen with a spring clip that holds the float bowl in place was on a 94 (or so) Maico 250.
On a single cylinder motocrosser the quick release removable float bowl is a good idea, on an inline four I think drain screws are maybe a better idea cos I reckon you'd struggle to get the float bowl off without taking the carb off anyway.

Could easy be good carbs though, I dunno.

Carbs are Keihins, they look like OE carbs which had a spring clip instead of screws to retain the float bowls.

That's so you don't get them mixed up.

This one conjures quite massive indifference in me. I was never fond of the wheezy CB750 engine anyway.

Ahh, right.
I've not noticed any with the clips apart from on the Bing I had.
