What was your favourite movie from the 1980s?
...and why?
Hoping to establish the best of the best. Then do the 90s. Then the naughtiest, the 2010s and finally this decade.
Don’t try and sound clever. If you say something foreign, but really mean the Goonies- then go for honesty.

Commando.
Never mind the 80's, it's the greatest film of all time.

Alien (1979) just missed the 80s,so I'll go for Aliens.
Because Aliens.
Because Aliens.

Too many great films to list from this period so I’ll settle for this one from the master of imaginary films - Terry (Munchausen/Time Bandits)Gilliam. A dystopian satire that is still relevant today - probably more so.

After looking at what movies were made in the 80s I'll have to add.
The Thing. I have the original short story written by John W Campbell and thats good also.
The Right Stuff. Mostly true story about the men of the Mercury space project, funny, sad and fucking awsome.

Re: What was your favourite movie from the 1980s?
As I said above, too many to mention but I can’t omit the films of Pedro Almodovar. He went from strength to strength from the ‘80s on. I like What Have I Done to Deserve This? from 1984.
Film buffs will have a field day totting up Almodóvar's visual and verbal allusions to the works of Buñuel, Brian De Palma, Billy Wilder, John Waters, and even Andy Warhol.
Almodovar, a clever man and did more to promote positive female roles in his films than any other director I can recall.

So Die Hard is the one I’ve probably seen most, but there are so many. Might help nudge :
Ferris Buellers day off ( and any of the Brat Pack stuff too)
Back to the Future

Re: What was your favourite movie from the 1980s?
I was born in 1984 so at the time it was probably The Little Mermaid.
As an adult though the one I've probably seen/enjoyed the most is The Empire Strikes Back. The single Star Wars film that is also a really good film in its own right

Weird Science.
I may come back and add / amend.
edit - Big Trouble in Little China! The Shining! Withnail & I! Excalibur!
It has to be Withnail. Withnail, Withnail, Withnail. You said you hadn't seen it Docca. You must.

Re: What was your favourite movie from the 1980s?
Nope....1984 is just a lot longer ago that you think it is
2006 was a couple of years ago right?
