Here's a chance to point and laugh - cleaning a lap top question

Post by Bwana »

Yep, I was in full klutz mode t'other day. Reached for my beverage, Ocean Spray Cran-Blackberry, and missed. Sort of. I connected and it spilled on my laptop which had migrated to the floor while I was paying bills for the office. Major splat on the open laptop. I quickly upended it, turning it on an edge to the lion's share drained off on the floor. Then wiped off the balance with a damp paper towel. Vigorous swearing ensued.

Keys are a bit sticky, not on top, on the bottom. Some are reluctant to respond, which makes typing fun.

What's next, chuck it in the washing machine? Leave it out in the rain for a few days? Pour petrol on it while its plugged in?

Which laptop is it. Some are more rebuildable than others.

Google the make and model and 'replace keyboard' - if it's a major make then there's be something - most likely a youtube video.

You may get lucky and the keyboard is cleanable, but afaik, most aren't.

Laptop keyboards are usually fairly simple to replace. Taking the laptop apart less so. Keyboard replacements are inexpensive and it is worth doing as the juice is not going anywhere.

One who forgives an affront fosters friendship, but one who dwells on disputes will alienate a friend.

If you can take the keyboard out then a rinse with isopropyl alcohol should wash all the juice out without damaging the electronics
