Where are you going ?

Because of the budget, you're taking your own bike... Unless you can hire one.

It's also non-covid times, so forget about that :)

It's also summer and the weather is great... The wife and kids are away, your boss has told you to go take a trip as you've worked too hard.

Where's your trip heading to and what are you planning on it ?

I'm leaving the UK on the tunnel and heading first to Roubaix, see the famous cobbles of the Paris>Roubaix race...

Day 2 i'm off down south a bit through the PArc NAtural Regional Scarpe-Escoute > Avesnois > Ardennes
Day 3 i'm heading to Malmedy/Spa and having a couple of days there and looking round the track etc, soaking up the atmosphere

From there i'm going NE up through the Eifel and over to Cochem for a day or 2 and maybe a trip to the Ring...

We're then heading south towards Zurich, before heading to Morzine for a days MTB or 2.

After that we're staring to run out of time now so i'm basically heading home on the most scenic route i can within the time restrictions.

I'd recreate a trip from years ago, we start on the NW coast of England and ride the whole coast over a week, all the way down to Newquay, where we park the bikes up and go on the lash for a week.

In this fantasy I'm 19yrs old again.

I did it in 2014.

Meander down to Lake Bled in Slovenia, then back via the Stelvio and the Nurburgring... a night in Cologne to watch Germany win the world cup and back home.

Week 2 Meander back up through Germany/Belgium/Holland.

The scenario you described is what I have all the time.

I wouldn't chuck £3k at the Ring. But would if you were paying

I think I would get over to France and just wander. No plan, no route, just go where my fancy takes me, preferably without ever touching a motorway or an N road.

OK. I'll have another go.
I keep pondering surprising 2 of my riding pals and treating them to a trip to UK and doing Caldwell, Brands GP and Donny. Other pal is loaded and can pay himself ;)

3 grand would cover it all nicely.

Fly to Phoenix, Arizona, pick up the DRZ400 my cousin will have conveniently bought for me, go trail riding in the South Western USA, Arizona, New Mexico and maybe Texas (I've only got 14 days), at nights I will be staying at Motels, the cheap sort, eat cheap as well, there's loads of little diners and that sort of thing. After 14 days return to Phoenix, ask my cousin to sell the bike, and hope what he gets for it keeps me within budget.

Having a cousin in Phoenix who's into off roading and is a cop (he's trust worthy) is a big help here, but his dad could also buy a bike for me if I fancied the San Bernadino area. I've also got a contact in Houston I'd trust to buy me a bike, and in New Zealand there's a couple of people I could trust as well.

Himalayas on a RE would be top of the list ...

Done Route 66 on a Harley, so that is off the bucket list.
Lived in Switzerland for a few years - so most of the significant Alpine Passes have been bagged ...

EagleRider were really good when we used them - great support, great bike quality and the accommodation , in general, was good. But Top Hat in Arizona was a dump!

Down through Luxembourg and Germany picking up the B500 then to Route Napolian to the south coast of france then double back to the alps, a detour into the dolomites the back up to Austria and maybe back down the Dalmation coast. I may need to contibute some of my own funds at this point. Have I run out of time? I'll need another week to get home...

I did the Route de Napolean about 10 years ago with no luggage. Awesome ride.
Even got my knee down a few times.

I wouldn't need 3k,but the 14 days is a bit miserly.

I'd book a couple of MotoGP rounds, drift down and drift back.

Conversely,if I'm guaranteed good weather,I'd buy a set of trick wheels for the Zed and blow the rest on petrol and lodgings around Scotchland.
