Google maps is killing my already knackered phone battery. I have a UBS cable and an adaptor, but is there somewhere I can shove it?
I've had a quick squizz but can't see one. Is it hidden some with ruthless Teutonic efficiency?

Google (and some dude) says

The standard accessory socket is located on the left side of the bike just down from the rider seat.

Further reading, it might be under the seat. Bloody stupid place if it is.

In fairness, it's a hire bike, so probably not loaded with extras.

Make sure it takes a standard 12V plug as some manufacturers (Ducati) use Hella type power outputs that take these instead

I would ring local BMW dealer and ask them rather than get there and find its the wrong type/not got one

It was an option on the R259 series (1100/1150 boxers), some have them, some don't.

BMW use the same type. (IIRC it's known as a DIN socket by the dealers)

Yes, caught me out completely when my brother said "you can recharge from my BMW" when we took a trip to the Pyrenees a couple of years ago... well, I could have if I had had the correct plug on the end of the adapter.

I ended up cutting the plug off, and just putting the bare wires under my own battery terminals - it was easier.

Same on the F800s. It sits below the frame on the right hand side by your knee, or would if mine had one. It has a blanking plug instead.
