What car would you have if you were in the market for one and had the money?

Post by IccyV2 »

Same question as the "What electric car would you have if you had the money...etc" but just opening it up to anything.
You can have everything from a new EV to a 1928 Sunbeam.

Personally I'd have a few things like a Renault 5 Turbo or an Escort 1.3 Popular to remind me of my grandad.

You can be as grand as you want, I haven't mentioned anything expensive but it can be anything you want.
Basically what is your dream car?

I’d buy back my old Evo, best car I ever had, an absolute weapon on the road, perfect set up and power.

Something newer and up to date it would have to be G81 M3 Touring, I think that would be the ideal family car ticking all the boxes.

Nothing I really covet, but give me an old V8 TVR again. Many happy memories being a noisy twat in mine

Thought about this and finally decided that cars don't do anything for me much any more. Don't lust after mega power - don't have the skills to use it....or the roads. Don't relish silly insurance and service costs. Don't care if people notice what I'm driving etc etc.

So, if it's a dream I'll just have one that doesn't exist - a pre-all-the-safety-gizmos 'S' Class Estate...in black. Electric with a 400 mile range will do. A Bentley, similar spec would suffice, maybe.

I’d have another Forester Turbo SG9 like a shot . I had 6 of them from ‘99 to ‘21, put about 70k v enjoyable miles on each.
…. But only if the deal also involved payment of the £790 annual tax and 25 mpg, the combination of which killed the idea when I retired.
Otherwise? Quite happy with our (second) Up GTi thanks. I don’t aspire now to glorious stuff which we couldn’t use day to day, or without worrying about it.

I really fancy another convertible. Kinda tempted by Clarkson's favourite, the V6s F-type...

AC Cobra. As long as the criteria isn't that it had to be my only car?

If one car only. Would have been a BMW M5 Touring, but it seems they've made it into a tub of lard, so maybe the Audi RS6 performance?

Get one with led headlights, the standard ones are terrible. A nice van but I wouldn't touch it because of that.

It wasn't that as such. But a basis on a theme. That just popped up early on ebay list.

I like Astons, but living in LA means I can pick up a decent older Rolls for the price of a used Honda Civic.

My dream car would have the looks of a 1972 Plymouth Road Runner, but drive like a modern sports coupe

I too keep looking at 'stangs. Just for the whole V8 thing, but then I think AMG probably do a V8 better.

The Ford push for V8 isn't great, but neither are the GM or Chrysler push rod V8s, and no one remembers AMC
