Looks like Atherton are expanding into the EMTB segment. And doing pretty well at it as they've sold out of their first run of bikes.

Re: Atherton
It's a potentially superb thing, i can see why it'd sell out in minutes as it has.
There's questions on the Avinox motor of course plus, what happens if it breaks and you don't like by Dyfi....
But i can't see any issues with the build or price even if the battery size is currently unknown.
I'd buy one for sure... But arguably i'd buy a Mondraker Sly with smaller battery and Bosch SX motor.

Re: Atherton
Nice bike but it needs the big battery.

Re: Atherton
Why though ? I don't get this big battery thing, i've done 4+ hours on a 600, do you really need more than 4 hours ?
For reference me and @crust on one of our rides did 35km and 500m elevation, he had 45% left on a 700w.
At Fod we did 38km and 900m elevation with 30% left...
I mean really how long do people have to go riding and how far do they want to ride ?

For BIG days out, I don't need it 90% of the time but it's useful to have for those days out when you do.weeksy wrote: Fri Jan 23, 2026 1:59 pmWhy though ? I don't get this big battery thing, i've done 4+ hours on a 600, do you really need more than 4 hours ?

Re: Atherton
A ride in the peaks of 20-25 miles will use 1 1/2 625 batteries. I take two on the rare occasion I do that. It’s only a 2-3 hour ride too. An 800 battery would be manageable thoughweeksy wrote: Fri Jan 23, 2026 1:59 pmWhy though ? I don't get this big battery thing, i've done 4+ hours on a 600, do you really need more than 4 hours ?

In turbo it might. For many people emtb or tour I’d expect less.Couchy wrote: Sun Jan 25, 2026 7:53 pmA ride in the peaks of 20-25 miles will use 1 1/2 625 batteries. Turbo needed to make some of the climbs, unsure why you’d ride an ebike in anything other than turbo may as well use a normal bikeweeksy wrote: Sun Jan 25, 2026 9:18 pmIn turbo it might. We've done this to death... Because we're all different. Your needs I'd guess are further away than most... but as MTB evolves, you're getting more 'normal' in relation to what you and other people want. I'm not sure i'm a massive fan of the way MTBing is going, but i'm even less sure anyone caresCouchy wrote: Mon Jan 26, 2026 4:05 pmTurbo needed to make some of the climbs, unsure why you’d ride an ebike in anything other than turbo may as well use a normal bikeweeksy wrote: Sun Jan 25, 2026 9:18 pmIn turbo it might. What way is mtb going ?, more people riding more is a good thing ? More bike parks also a good thing ?weeksy wrote: Mon Jan 26, 2026 5:22 pmWe've done this to death... Because we're all different. Nah, even I don't like using full power unless I actually need it.Couchy wrote: Mon Jan 26, 2026 4:05 pmTurbo needed to make some of the climbs, unsure why you’d ride an ebike in anything other than turbo may as well use a normal bikeweeksy wrote: Sun Jan 25, 2026 9:18 pmIn turbo it might. I have an ebike to go fast, if I didn’t want to go fast I’d have a normal bike. I like me and the bike to give 100% it’s always in turbo but we’re all different
