When i buy one i might Our wee toon is getting parking meters. We only go down for the chemist, post office and the odd bit here and there. Pointless taking the car even though there is lack of parking so the e bikes make sense.

So i got this Cube bike fromt brake working as it should and rode it just around the back garden. I must admit i was quite impressed with the lack of effort to get it moving over the wet grass. I was going to wait until i rode it on the road but i was impressed that much i hit the small adds and seen this nice Decathlon Riverside 500e going cheap. The guy was going away on holiday for two weeks in the morning to i went out and got it. One year old and did 119km.

Now where do i get lycra pants?

Oh yes. Not that i expect to be out in the rain much but i was thinking more dirt tracks and the odd dog shit line up my back. The company sells them for about £22 i think it was

1986/7 was the last time oi owned a bike. Some 22 years ago i got a kids one working again so i could go into town and collect my car so its safe to say i have not cycled much in my life. Today i went for a run on this Electric bike but probably, stupidly asked to much from it (and my legs) on a steep hill. I ground to a halt half way up and had to walk the rest Back on up the top and away i went. Playing about with speed settings and gears. Not sure about the gear shift button yet as up is a small push lever what sits behind the larger push for down lever. After about an hour i was quite enjoying it and quite surprised i was holding it in a straight line. It actually does 17.5mph before the motor kicks off. Manual says 15. something. Did a big circle around the back roads and came back into town by another route. Only did 4.2 miles and my fucking legs were wobbling

For sure i am unfit but decided to do that run every day after work until i get up the big bloody hill in one go

Well i am chuffed as a chuff thing Only day two and i made it up this bloody hill. Now it is not huge according to google maps below as its only about 100 feet but, Its quite a short 100 feet what makes it steep. Kind of starts at then 30mph signs what you may nneed to squint for.

Once you have started , you will find a will to push yourself a little harder as it become easier.
The fisrt time i cycled up onto the Downs behind my house - about 240m high. It took me 1 1/2 hours and about 5 stops. The last time I did it was(and I have lost fitness from becoming a e bike wanker) it was about 30 mins and no stops ...
It just about little wins each time.

In about 3 weeks time you will have an Atherton DH bike and be taking on Weeksy Jr ...

It has an orange line what moves along as you click the gears but has no numbers. When i hit the hill i was thinking right to left was down where it was up. As it was my first real ride on an Electric bike i was probably thinking the engine should take me up no problem. Next click would have been when i stopped at the temporarily lights and thought "probably best work on this hill" it was later on that ride i was sussing the gears out so kind of knew where i was for todays attempt at the hill. Wifes bike actually clicks and shows numbers

I find it very addictive for sure.... I also find it utterly amazing in terms of mentality, the endorphins, the reward etc etc.

YOu know you can look at the back wheel and see where it is on the big cassette ?

None of my MTBs have indicators at all, no lines, no numbers, they're very much a cheaper/newbie thing. Now you sort of feel like you do in a car.

I dont think ill be getting that keen but i will use it more than just nipping down the town to dodge the parking charges. We have some nice back roads and dirt tracks in East Lothian. May as well visit them now and then and get fitter at the same time.

TBF i was a lot more confident with them today. I only have 8 gears so should not be an issue now

Spend 80% of my days living in Edinburgh and apart from the Ski slope in the late 70's and early 80's i have never been up the Pentlands. Big uproar just now as they are introducing parking charged in all its car parks.
