What is 2026 destined to bring or hoping/planning to bring anyway ?

Post by weeksy »

So what's happening now we're in 2026 guys ?

Any big changes on the horizon ? New jobs ? Changes in cars? Changes in WIVES !!! :D Renovations, extensions, garden revamps with a sunroom.

Our biggest one here is the planned house move, but due to Xmas and budget, we're waiting on a very slow housing market at the moment and getting someone to offer on our house before we can jump into the new place... But we're (as usual) optimistic that'll get moving soon and the wheels getting in motion.

There's also the possible/likely/pending job change... but that's massively unknown at the moment even more so than the house.

I fancy a new job, I've been here three years and it's all a bit too easy/boring.

The problem is I get paid so well that finding another job around this salary means a move into people management, something I hate with a passion.

Buy a bike - need to test a sports bike to see how it does for the arm, but the other options are probably MT07 and MT09

I'm gonna have to change jobs.

Having had a taste of being in a couple, I think it would be nice to meet someone to play bikes (n other stuff) with, but I'm not convinced that's possible!! I don't seem to 'fit' the mould for girlfriend!!

Gonna learn to teach English cos then I'll always have a job that isn't an arm problem!!

Maybe an actual holiday - probably a trackday rather than a 'normal' holiday!!

You and me both.

Edited highlights:

In July 2016 I met a German via an artists group. I was smitten at the time but I wasn't free to do anything about it.
FF to June 2025 and we met again, having had no contact since our last goodbye. My circumstances had changed and I was less constrained by responsibilities. In the space of a couple of weeks some decisions were made which led to where I am now.

I'll happily tell you more but not on the internet in public.

2026 is much the same of 2025 in terms of Ministry and so on, but I kick it off very differently. Off to SA to see my brother for the first time in 9 years and catch up with family/friends there. I fly this Thursday and am away for two weeks.

Wife is home to look after our daughter, so that is a relief (taking unpaid leave). Our son is carrying on with his Teaching Assistant job for now, but wants to do his Masters Degree.

I'm hoping to build up a stronger children's ministry team with some newcomers to church. Slow steps, and no rush. I've lost a bit of cover that I had on a monthly basis, but I am grateful for the support that I had as it did give me a much needed time to focus on other parts of ministry.

As a family, we are taking it quietly, might have a summer holiday somewhere with the dog, but that needs to be worked out carefully.

As ever, carefully laid plans can change instantly and for a variety of reasons, so they are all very lightly held.
Proverbs 17:9
One who forgives an affront fosters friendship, but one who dwells on disputes will alienate a friend.

We'll likely need to change the car this year,it's 11 years old now and our pet spannerman tells us it's getting crusty underneath. I have no love for cars,so I find it a bit of a drag doing the research for the replacement. I past times I tell a mate in the industry our budget and he keeps an eye out for a decent example fitting the bill. Likely do that again.

I'd like to change the current 'up and over' garage door for a double side hinged affair,at some stage. The old side door is now bricked up and a more conventional door would make access easier for Mrs.Skub's trips to the freezer.

I feel we're on the cusp of some major life changes, or nothing at all! One thing is for sure, I need more time with my wife. We seem to always be needed somewhere by someone and its time to cut that dependency down.

Think we're planning to get married this year but we haven't made any plans further than looking at a few venues online. Will be a small one though so we don't need loads of notice for guests.

The better half finishes Uni in June so has a new career to embark on. I might also change career again if I'm still struggling after she has settled in.

Turned 66 in 2025 so Ive been looking at options for reducing working hours, dropping one day per shift so work 5 on 4 off, In discussions with my boss to see what’s possible.
Changed the car and caravan last year so they are both retirement ready.
Possibility of me and the F finally living together but realistically I doubt that will be until next year due to financial constraints on her, pensions etc that disappear if she cohabits. They were set up before her husband died, 24 years ago.
I’m planning on becoming an overnight millionaire but it’s doubtful😂

We are about to become grandparents :bblonde:

So planning a trip to Bavaria where my eldest son and his partner live around March time.

Dropped my working pattern down to 3 short days, more free time to fix up our Victorian place. This might be the year I finally remove the blown render.

Vague plans to replace one of the 3 bikes with something that’ll get ridden more often but the biking mojo has left me recently apart from commuting more regularly.
