Scars

Post by Scotsrich »

Not your usual bike / car / operation scars.
Who’s got something with a bit of a story to it?

Personally, 2 puncture marks on my forearm from a monkey bite in Gibraltar. A horizontal scar on my forefinger where I hit it with an axe when I was attempting to chop kindling aged about 12.

Can't compete with a monkey bite.

All mine are general rough and tumble stuff.

One in eyebrow - headbutted a kerb when I was about 5.
One biggish area on left wrist - playing on building sites is not recommended.
Knees - several souvenirs.
Hand - was stabbed with a compass while 'fencing' in class.

Etc.
The plural of 'anecdote' is not 'data'.

I have a 5cm one on the underside of my left forearm from landing on the pointy edge of a terracotta-tiled outdoor staircase down to the pump room for a jacuzzi.

1.5" one right smack in the middle of my forehead along my hair line, running back to an extrusion machine (making paint can handles at the time) to make sure it didn't run out of raw material and I didn't duck low enough to go under a shelving unit.
Was during the middle of a night shift out in the boonies, gaffer had to wake up district nurse who came and tied my hair across the opening as there isn't enough skin to stich there.

Another 1.5 incher on the back of my right hand, if anyone asks it was where I got stabbed, in reality a mate sunk a pair of scissor in he was holding when he raised his had to protect his face from my fist, oh the fun we used to have at school.

I used to have a proper pirate/Hollywood villain scar across my cheek under my right eye, but it faded loads when I turned into an adult.

I split my face open on a waterslide in The Netherlands (still not exactly sure how) when I was 6 and had to be stitched up - took about 7 or 8 years before I'd go on one again.

Burn scar from my dad's goldie exhaust header, multiple others on my knees, hips and elbows from various cycling offs and motorbike incident. Crescent across my spine courtesy of a razor sharp piece of laminate and the biggest and best: 12 inch zipper on my right shin from a double break whilst playing roller hockey. Oh and a whopper on top the my noggin from a falling shed roof.

I think that's it :obscene-drinkingcheers:

I've got a small scar on the index finger of my left hand.

I cut it on some glass.

Crawling out of my upside down Rover 216si after I rolled it three times, it stopped when it hit a telegraph pole (which it demolished).

Small scar LH wrist where I had a Herbert screw and scaphoid bone graft, as a result of hitting the Stanmer Park "tree of doom" at the 2nd Brighton Big Dog MTB race (still did 3 more 9 mile laps after that).

A wonky RH little finger and scar on the palm from a dog bite that infected the tendon sheath and nearly resulted in me losing my hand! I have some very gory, grim looking photos.

Small scar on left hand little finger from an exploding bottle of coke…

On holiday with family as a kid, large bottle of coke with metal screw cap which wouldn’t budge despite everyone trying to undo it by hand, with a tea towel, whatever. Dad suggested nipping it in a door jamb, I was operating the door, dad twisting the bottle. I guess all of the previous efforts to open it shook up the coke and increased the pressure. One nip up with the door and twist of the bottle saw the bottle explode with a chunk slicing along half the length of my finger.

I've got quite a few scars and a big depression in my right leg from taking up skating vert at the age of 40
I dropped in, bearing locked and I basically sat on my own leg from height resulting in spiral fracture to tib and fib but that's not the fun bit. Hospital put in a Richards nail, which needed a 2 inch cut in my ankle. Then wrapped it all up in a plaster cast but forgot to stitch the wound first so two? Weeks later when they cut the cast off they were greeted by a gaping hole down to the bone. I got osteomyelitis and at one point they even prepped me for amputation. 18 months of operations later I had scars on scars and a big hollow where the wound was.

I did skate again but not drop in. I haven't skated at all since turning 60 in fact I gave a really nice board to a kid who lives up the street a couple of weeks ago.

1in scar & small puncture wound on left forefinger from a drunk Staffy pup.

2in scar on left arm from a Wolf, she was giving me her paw & one of her claws was more like a razor blade

Small scar (4 or 5 stitches) on left eyebrow from some pillock who knocked himself out cold headbutting me. I bled, he collapsed on the floor so I took the opportunity to kick 7 bells out of his kidneys before he woke up.

3 small puncture wounds on right knuckles that I picked some fuckers teeth out of after he needed an attitude adjustment.

Daughter has a small scar on her face from being kicked by a wolf when she was about 2yo. It was snoozing on the couch & she grabbed a back leg. It did the kick reaction thing dogs do if you touch their feet & hit her in the face. The truth didn't come out until she was 18 or so, up until then both her & her mum were under the impression she'd bumped into a grill in the back yard.. :shhh:

Mine were also spiral fractures and the plate caused sepsis. Ditto the threat of amputation. But 24hrs of gallons of penicillin and all was good 👍

Oh white scars everywhere from chicken pox in my 40s that really stand out on freakishly on photos. My face was so infected and manky the doctor made go round the back door so I didn't scare other patients. Seriously.

Scar above right knee where I impaled myself on a fence jumping over to look at a mates new moped.

Two fingers skinned to the bone where I rode my pushbike into a lamppost. Twat :D scar mostly faded but broken finger set rotated about 30 deg.

Scar on my face, basal cell carcinoma. They took a chunk out about the size of a 10p then the wound got infected.
