So you can buy good pizza in the supermarket!
I love pizza, its probably my favourite take away food, but its so often disappointing. Just had one of these cooked on a pizza stone in my oven. Surprised to say it was better than a lot of pizzas from take away openings including the named ones. The sourdough crust was superb and it really did taste like it had come out of a wood fired oven!

Yeah, I love pizza as well (although it does seem to trigger my acid reflux), so where did you buy this yummy comestible from?
There is no cloud, just somebody else's computer.

Pizza lover here too, how much did that cost and where from ?
And where can I get an indoor electric pizza oven, maybe an one that has multiple uses ?
I have looked around but they either seem crap or well expensive (I'm a tight arse)

The prices seem to have no relation to the cost of production. Lots of them are just silly 'must have luxury goods' prices. Like £650+ silly.Eclipse wrote: Mon Jul 07, 2025 6:12 am Pizza lover here too, how much did that cost and where from ?

This is the cheapest electric/indoor one I found.

TBH I've found that a good, chunky pizza stone in a conventional oven works fine. I have made my own but less faff is to buy the simplest with the best base, eg M&S do a decent range, and pimp 'em up with decent added toppings.
Coincidentally, Jay Rayner did a review of a pizza place in Soho and rated it the 2nd best he's ever had. (His best was in the pizza place on the umpteenth floor of the Mandarin Hotel, Tokyo - voted the world's best apparently. By whom, I've not idea).
Anyways the Soho place, Breadstall, are planning on opening more places so it might not mean a trip to Soho to try one.

Yeah but they are supermarkets or food outlets. Amazon is spawn of the Devil.MrLongbeard wrote: Mon Jul 07, 2025 10:33 amWhy not, people get food delivered from Asda, Tesco, Waitrose, Gusto etc etc

Yeah, but the supermarkets do books, garden furniture, OTC drugs, clothes, phones, electronics, TV's etc etc and Amazon have a groceries section, they're all much of muchness now, regardless of your views of Amazon, their business practises or tax filings.mangocrazy wrote: Mon Jul 07, 2025 10:44 am Yeah but they are supermarkets or food outlets. Re: So you can buy good pizza in the supermarket!
One big, in fact huge, difference. I can walk into my local Tesco, Waitrose, Sainsburys, Morrisons, Aldi, Lidl and pick a pizza off the shelf, take it home and eat it, all within less than an hour.MrLongbeard wrote: Mon Jul 07, 2025 12:44 pmYeah, but the supermarkets do books, garden furniture, OTC drugs, clothes, phones, electronics, TV's etc etc and Amazon have a groceries section, they're all much of muchness now, regardless of your views of Amazon, their business practises or tax filings.mangocrazy wrote: Mon Jul 07, 2025 10:44 am Yeah but they are supermarkets or food outlets. Try doing that at Amazon.

Horse for courses old bean, it'd take me an hour to get to a supermarket large enough to stock them, then another hour back, so once you've factored in time and diesel money it makes more sense for me to have one dropped to my door next day*
*Obvs I still do the weekly shop at a large supermarket as you need to handle the mech before buying fresh foods, but if the fancy took me to have a pizza tomorrow** I'd not hesitate to turn to Amazon. Amazon already deliver all of my drinks, soft drinks & hard alcohol, beer I order directly from the brewery, cider too.
** I won't as I already have an Asda pizza I picked up on Saturday, once half of the cheese is binned and a layer of spicy pepperoni is added it'll fill a hole.

Re: So you can buy good pizza in the supermarket!
I live in a large city (Sheffield as you may have noticed) and am no more than 5 minutes drive away from a Tesco , a Waitrose or an Asda. Your mileage obviously varies. I'd find it completely ludicrous to order a pizza from Amazon, but that's just me.
This is entirely separate from my distaste for Amazon and all their works. They are absolutely the option of last resort for me.

As Mr LB said and I got it in Tesco. I buy that make's wraps as well as they have a lot less ingredients (read crap) in compared to say the Mission make.MrLongbeard wrote: Mon Jul 07, 2025 8:58 amAmazon, Sainsbugs, Morrisons, Tesco all list it.mangocrazy wrote: Sun Jul 06, 2025 11:50 pm Yeah, I love pizza as well (although it does seem to trigger my acid reflux), so where did you buy this yummy comestible from?

I think everyone lays claim to the original pizza, but they were really just flat breads with toppings on and didn't use tomato sauce base etc. The pizza as we know it today originates from Naples.

I cook Pizzas in the air fryer - works well, works better if you make your own pizza, cook the base first, then add toppings and cook some more

Most of what gets served up here is more New York than the exotic Orient (or Naples).Mr Moofo wrote: Mon Jul 07, 2025 7:43 pm Meh, pizza!

The Turks have a variant called pide that you can roll up like a flatbread too.
Bill and Ted reckoned spaghetti was just noodles with a few air miles too.
