One of the clips to lock it closed has fallen off mine, not bad for almost 20 years old.

Not got that one as it's filled with crap I don't need, however the socket set I do have from them is over 30 years old, the case hinge is now mostly duct tape and both catches fell off long ago which leads to most folk who aren't me depositing the contents all over the garage floor, I really should look at some tool case storage racks or something and chuck the case away.

Both of mine have fallen off.KungFooBob wrote: Wed Apr 02, 2025 2:14 pm One of the clips to lock it closed has fallen off mine, not bad for almost 20 years old.
That said, you only pick it up by the handle once when it's in that condition. Spending hours searching the garage floor for every last missing piece of the set does focus the mind somewhat.

Re: PSA: Halfords Professional Tool Kit 50% off
I got a excellent bargain Halfords Pro socket set for either £10 or £20 about 12 years back.I nipped in to the Chester store & they had a clearance on some lines so I had a look & this 3/8 & 1/4 drive big socket set, unopened still boxed, was in the clearance stock.I couldn't believe it when I first saw the price.I asked why it was in the clearance & the reason was that they had a small batch of socket sets were one of the 10mm sockets was missing & a 8mm was there instead so they had to clear them, this was the last one.My mate's were equally stunned when I showed them the still boxed socket set & the reciept

Halfords tools are top notch for the money plus the lifetime guarantee. I use a lot of their stuff now and it does the trick no problem at all especially on heavy duty machinery.

I really hope there is a serious discount when I eventually come back for a visit!!! I may have to do a tool 'stocktake' before hand to work out if I do actually 'need' anything

But I will check if there's anything I actually 'NEED' - then I'll go 'window shopping' anyway if there is a sale on (and we all know what that means when it comes to tools - or women shopping

Mine must be nearing 20 years old too. Both clips still present and correct.
I did have one of the ratchet spanners replaced under the warranty once though.
